Commercial Description:
Biere de Miel is bottle conditioned and contains only water, barley and wheat, honey, hops and yeast. It has a marvelously delicate scent of honey, balnaced by a dry palate, resulting in a beer that is both estery and refreshing.

Disclaimer: Both the normal and the organic (biologique) version.

Pours clear golden with a white head which slowly fades. Aroma of hay, a bouquet of flowers and ends with a surprising minty/menthol twinge; neat. Flavor has notes of sweet pale malt, lemon, orange, white grapes, honey, clove, flowers and spiciness. Pleasantly sweet with a zesty hop bitterness at the end. Alcohol very well-hidden, dry finish. Medium bodied with spritzy carbonation. Quite good!

Bottle 48F Tulip Glass. Aroma is sharp, very aspartic, could smell it the minute the cork popped, thought I opened a heineken. As I smell further I smell esters of yeast, yet no bread, and slightly dry. Light gold color with a rather large head, that diminishes rather quickly and is white. Taste is very intriguing, very drying finish, very light taste, slightly sour at the end with only a touch of bitterness. Wildness is someting I taste, as though the ingredients are of the earth, but not rustic, taste is very controlled. Controlled nature, taste of berries and flowers, really something else. You need 750 ml to figure this beer out. I think it may be slightly light struck, but still the idea is there. Woody in nature. That is the word for this beer it is nature incarnate. What a dry finsih. Full of carbonation, good mouthfeel, very nice not sweet at all. really good. once again the belgians show off their alligence with god.

Beautiful hazy golden-orange beer. Huge aroma of citrus, mostly orange and tangerine. Soft carbonation.

Aroma of spicey malt, and perhaps honey; perhaps a bit medicinal. Hazy golden orange, but not a deal of head. Very dry, considering it has honey. Something of a herbal flavor; perhaps the honey carried a flavor with it. Nicely fizzy on the tongue, makes me want to pucker. Finish of yeast and hops? Really very good.

2002. Hazy gold. Giant, fizzy, white head seems to be growing from a multitude of reinforcements rushing up from the depths of the glass. Cool picture on the label. Nose: grainy malt, crisp hops, honey, flowers, incense, light fruits, and some musty barn funk. Smells great. Flavor: all of the above, toffee in the middle, estery throughout, some sourness towards the end. Very dry finish, lightly sweet and funky aftertaste. Medium, balanced body drinks very easy. Great saison. Better than 3.51.

Bottle at Den Tatoverede Enke, RBESG Pub Crawl, August 2005. Cloudy blonde appearance. Very perfumed with a strange cosmetic edge. There’s a hint of barnyard but I don’t find that and the perfumed honey easy bedfellows. And I found it rather sweet. Not really my scene.
