yet another beautiful dupont here. light color with signature haze and heafty foam. the standard dupont aromas of yeast and fruit, slightly spicey, bready and herbacious with perfumy alcohols. soft mouthfeel from bottle conditioning. great balance of bitterness, honey, clove and malt. a bit sweet but not cloying. refreshing. effervescent. well rounded and somewhat complex. saison vs. hefewiezen. very enjoyable.

Wow! Great stuff. the Honey is very pronounced, but somehow balanced and not overpowering. Remarkable all around pale yellow, lots of lace, honey in the nose with some spice. delicious. Just came into the Bodega downtown La Crosse. served that a good temperature.

God, this is good stuff. Where has it been hiding all my beer-drinking life?
on-tap at the Thirsty Monk, Asheville.
Appearance: Looks suspiciously like mead.
Aroma: Wildflowers, honey, and malt.
Taste: Hominy, and non-sweet honey.
Palate: PERFECT! Smooth with a bit of spritz.
Overall: Quite refreshing and thirst-quenching. The fact that it’s 8% ABV is WELL hidden. Saison-ish. The fact that it’s a Dupont creation is not surprising given the high level of quality. The fact that it’s organic makes me very happy. Amazing beer. More of this. Often.

Tap at Beer de Luxe. Exceptional beer. Aromas of honey, caramel, leather, and lemon. Taste is sweet and sour, with bitter notes, and very long length. Palate is silky, with a medium-to-full body. Orange, with a frothy head.

75cl bottle @Pourquoi Brasserie (Roma). Golden orange with a lasting foamy head. Not very sweet. The sourness and sweetness are very good balanced and the honey is not disturbing. A good saison. Brasserie Dupont is definitely one of my favourite brewery.

2006 750. Beer is murky, medium, pale yellow-gold with a large frothy, white, mostly lasting head. The aroma is equisite—feminine, delicate and earthy. Breaks down to malty with light notes of toasted grain, trace of cookie; Hoppy with a trace note of resin/pine, light notes of chamomile, lemon zest and clean, dry straw; Yeasty with a light note of barnyard; Moderate-to-heavy note of nougatty, heavily floral honey acts as a base for everything else, including notes of light vanilla/snickerdoodle and alcohol. Net is totally sublime. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter and lightly acidic with a moderately sweet, lightly acidic/dry finish. Moderate alcoholic warmth. The body is medium, the texture is watery and the carbonation is lively.

UPDATED: OCT 1, 2006 2006 bottle (freshtastic!). Head is initially large, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is hazy dark yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (toasted grain, cookie), lightly hoppy (flowers, herbs), lightly yeasty (cobwebs), with notes of honey, pepper, clove, banana, pineapple, cinnamon, alcohol. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Unbelievably sexy, literally makes me shiver with delight. The key to most Dupont beers is freshness (i.e., preferably drink during the same year as what’s on the cork), since the yeast strain(s) is/are not particularly farmy and don’t improve its character with age. This is the best sample I’ve ever had of this (the ’04 was pretty sweet), and should probably buy a case.
4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20 bhensonb (8954) - Woodland, California, USA - MAY 9, 2006
Aroma of spicey malt, and perhaps honey; perhaps a bit medicinal. Hazy golden orange, but not a deal of head. Very dry, considering it has honey. Something of a herbal flavor; perhaps the honey carried a flavor with it. Nicely fizzy on the tongue, makes me want to pucker. Finish of yeast and hops? Really very good.

A little faint aroma. Looks good. The head is a little too poofy or puffy. The taste is quite nice though. The honey is definitely there but it’s smooth and not too much; subtly great, like a saison should be.
