SoLan (1189), Orlando, Florida, USA May 13, 2008 Lightly hazy gold. 3cm of frothy white foam. Aroma of spicy, floral yeast, light citrus, crisp grains, and bitter, grassy hops. Same flavors. Medium body, well carbonated. Finish is dry, lightly bitter, and lightly yeasty. Decent. Love the fact that it’s only 3.5%. Where’s the minikeg?
SHIG (1731), Oberoffligen, Germany Jan 5, 2009 Bottle: Poured a hazy whitish yellow with a huge white head. Aroma is yeast and spice. Taste is acidic with yeast and citrus fruit. Refreshing beer, pitty I wasted it on winter and not summer. DrBayern (1014), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA Jan 5, 2009 Bottle. Large, foamy white head that deposits good lace burst forth from a hazy yellow gold pour. Grass and hay in the aroma that also has a yeasty character and some floral and spice notes. Light body and a palate cleansing bright effervescence, quite clean and dry. Honey and grain based sweetness balnced well by a thirst quenching light bitterness. Very easy drinking, refreshing, and with the very low alcohol, the 750 ml. bottle wasn’t a problem. CapFlu (3364), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Jan 3, 2009 (25cl bottle) Purchased at Brewery Creek in Vancouver, BC. Lasting 1 inch white frothy head atop a clear, highly carbonated golden body. Nose of great lemon and yeast. Very hoppy and lemony citrus, banana through the finish. Great effervecence. I like the Saison Dupont more as this feels a little light on the tongue. A heartless Dupont. 8/5/6/3/13 tripelthreat (32), Soquel, California, USA Jan 2, 2009 750ml bottle into tulip. Golden yellow body with a substantial white head that dissipates leaving a little lacing. Lots of skunk in the nose at first, making us wonder if it had been handled poorly at Ledger’s in Berkeley. Not the case. The skunk fades and the lemon, bready, funky, and sweet aromas step up. A lot of wheat, lemony citrus, mint, and light bitterness. Gentle in the mouth but fresh with enough carbonation. Finishes a little dry. I’m another person who is amazed at 3.5% and the low scores. Excellent. Doppelganger (1261), Oxford, Oxfordshire, England Dec 30, 2008 Bottle, Monk’s Cafe, with Traci, Fin & Loz. Light straw, nice dense and persistent white head. Bright green seaweed and mineral nose. Really soft mouthfeel, but an amazing amount of presence on the palate. Hop flavor very bright and tingely, soapy lemon finish. Delightful, balanced beer. Dupont brewers (and their beautiful yeast) make some killer beer, and at just 3.5% this is a remarkable brewing achievement.
