3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml 2013 bottle. Head is initially large, frothy, white, fully lasting. Body is hazy light to medium yellow, bottle conditioned. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), lightly hoppy (herbs), lightly to moderately yeasty (cobwebs), with notes of sulfur, pepper, lemon peel. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter. Light body, velvety texture, lively carbonation.
Finally some fresh bottles in Colorado! It’s pretty much exactly what you would expect...a much lighter, milder version of their regular saison. And yet still delicious, if less fulfilling/satisfying. I wish V&D would import the 5.5% version (Biologique), and I also wish Dupont would make a 4.5% version. Yes, I want a perfect world.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
25cl bottle from the "Clip BIO" pack. Pours a hazy yellow with a thin white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is herbal, floral and yeasty. Not quite covering the whole saison spectrum but still good. Reminescent of the regular saison, which might have been expected. Taste is dry and lightly bitter. Lots of fresh cereals in the flavor and an herbal finish. Light in taste but still enjoyable. Carbonation is lighter than expected but it doesn’t need to be high with such a light brew anyway. Body is light but it never feels thin. I can see myself crushing a few of these on a hot summer afternoon. Nice!
