3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cloudy, bright yellow color with big fluffy white head. Aroma is nice and spicy. Taste follows with spices and just a hint of tartness. Very refreshing with high carbonation (a bit too high for my taste). Overall a very nice wit.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A steady pour into my large Tripel Karmeliet tulip produces an initially three finger thick, pale, off-white colored head that continues to rise above the rim of the glass and makes me have to suck a couple layers of foam lest it overflow my glass. The beer is a pale, honey-gold color, but shows a hint of haze, and a pale-gold / sun-bright-straw hue when held up to the light. The aroma smells of orange zest, earthy coriander notes (but clean), this is backed by an earthy, musty, phenolic yeast character, as well as hay like grain notes and a chewy, pale-grain cracker like malt character.
The foam tastes characteristic of the Dupont yeast. The beer is quite light bodied, very effervescent, but not watery. There is a soft tartness to this beer that is a combination of the yeast character, the citrus zest, and perhaps the wheat. The coriander contributes to the citrus character up front, and contributes a sort of earthy, grassy, herbal note towards the middle and finish. The beer has some carbonic bite to it, and a bit of a phenolic bite to the finish that is a mix of musty spicy notes, and a touch of clove. There is a light grain character here that plays a supporting role, light hay like notes, a touch of pale malt saltine crackers, and perhaps just a hint of fresh grain nuttiness.
This is a nice example of a Wit, it has just a suggestion of the Dupont character (or am I imagining it). The soft tartness and citrus character make for a nicely refreshing beer.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: AUG 24, 2014 750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 6/13/2013. Pours lightly hazy golden straw color with a 2 finger dense and rocky white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a large amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big lemon, pear, apple, white grape, orange peel, white pepper, coriander, wheat, hay, straw, grass, herbal, light funk, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/funky yeast, spices, and pale malt notes; with good strength. Taste of lemon, pear, apple, white grape, orange peel, coriander, white pepper, lightly tart wheat, hay, straw, grass, herbal, light funk, and yeast earthiness. Some light bready tartness/spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, pear, apple, white grape, orange peel, coriander, wheat, hay, straw, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of fruity/funky yeast, spices, and pale malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast/spice balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly bready mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice witbier style. All around great complexity and balance of fruity/funky yeast, spices, and pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Hazy light amber colour, creamy head. Light malt aroma with some spices and yeast. The flavory is light citrus fruit and yeast, some spices. Unassuming. Not much to report. Over and out.
