Nez de citron, légère amertume, léger goût de céréales, avec une fine note de coriandre. Elle ne reste pas très longtemps en bouche. Une bière à boire pour se désaltérer quand il fait chaud

750 ml bottle labelled as Foret Blanche. Purchased from Belmont Station late Dec ’13 and tasted Feb ’14 -- but the cork reads 2012. That’s a bit of a disappointment. It’s not a style I particularly want to age.

Bottle opens with a vigorous champagne-bottle POP, but doesn’t gush. Pours a light gold with a coarse white head. Lovely nose -- Brasserie Dupont has such a distinct aroma; of course I’m romanticizing but I always think sunshine on a dusty Belgian barnyard, here with the addition of orange peel and light coriander and cloves.

Flavor is quite dry for the style, hints of orange, the usual bubblegum and banana and coriander. Witbier as a style brings forward the elements I like least in my saisons, but that was fully expected. Hint of pear juice. Straw. Skunked-out Eurohops, unfortunately -- green glass -- but I’d say the majority of the blame here rests firmly on the shoulders of the distributor/retailer, for selling a 2012 witbier two years later. On the other hand, I shouldn’t hate on them -- I’m very pleased to have tried this in any condition, and I’ve never seen it anywhere else. Quite quaffable, feels positively low alcohol compared to most of the recent beers I’ve had. Nice.

Bottled 29/01/14. A blonde beer with a whitish head. a sweet wit. Coriander noted. Low hop, low funk and low yeast for a Belgian brewed wit. a bit disappointing on all levels really.

Pours a hazy golden yellow with average soapy white head. Aroma is sweet honey notes, coriander, orange peel and lemon. Flavour is lemon, bready, sweet honey like notes, orange peel, coriander, higher carbonation(kinda reminds me of soda water), mild bitterness and then falls off as soon as you swallow. Quite sessionable.

(Back catalogue 2012-13) Several 25cl bottled occasions, mainly Geers. Fluffy and dry Dupont yeast, white bread malts, a spritzer of lemon and bit of coriander, gentle subservient hops: what’s not to like? Basic, natural, almost "degrée zéro"/benchmark blanche.

250 ml bottle. Pours a sediments-filled pale golden-straw with a nice white head. Aroma is lemon, yeast, vanilla and orange. Flavor is vanilla, orange. Finish is lemon and vanilla. Lingering white cake and lemon. Light body, prickly mouthfeel, average to strong carbonation.

Cloudy light golden liquid with fine white persistent foam. Citric fine neroli aromas, bits of kaffir, nuts, clove. Slightly sweet, slightly sour and slightly salty. Cereal sweetness. Foaming on the tongue, acidic sharpness. Finishing lightly acidic. It seems some acidity is increasing an apparent sweetness. The mouthfeel is not adversely affected by sugar. Interesting but uncongealed. Probably better on a hot afternoon.

Hazy yellow, white foam, medium carbonation. Medium body, yeasty (typical Dupont taste) with light sour aroma of citrus. Rather bitter finish. Rather good for a witbier.

250 ml bottle. L13282B. BB 09/2015. From saveur-biere.com.
Cloudy pale yellow colour with an average sized white head. Citrus, tea, coriander, yeast, wheat and mild hints of crisp bacon in the aroma. The flavour is yeast, wheat, mild hops, citrus and coriander. Not bad. Quite yeasty and heavy but very drinkable.

Bottle (250 ml). Slightly hazy yellow with a medium white head, good retention and light lacing. Aroma is mild with Dupont yeast, herbs, coriander, cereals and citrus. Taste is also mild and yeasty with citrus, coriander, cereals and a light herbal finish. Light body. Good carbonation. Nothing outstanding here, but a decent heavily drinkable Wit.
