superspak (3227) - Michigan, USA - AUG 22, 2014
UPDATED: AUG 24, 2014 750 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 6/13/2013. Pours lightly hazy golden straw color with a 2 finger dense and rocky white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a large amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big lemon, pear, apple, white grape, orange peel, white pepper, coriander, wheat, hay, straw, grass, herbal, light funk, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/funky yeast, spices, and pale malt notes; with good strength. Taste of lemon, pear, apple, white grape, orange peel, coriander, white pepper, lightly tart wheat, hay, straw, grass, herbal, light funk, and yeast earthiness. Some light bready tartness/spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of lemon, pear, apple, white grape, orange peel, coriander, wheat, hay, straw, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of fruity/funky yeast, spices, and pale malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast/spice balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and lightly bready mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish. Overall this is a damn nice witbier style. All around great complexity and balance of fruity/funky yeast, spices, and pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Draught and bottle circa 2007/2008 as the purple bottle Foret Blanche label
Not quite as much of a massive head as the usual Dupont produces, though still fairly well-retained (assumedly the spices are to blame). Brilliant pale golden colored body is moderately hazy.
Very artfully done spicing in the nose only sits in the background giving a mild citric feel to the nose, while dry, lightly tart wheat and biscuity malts play about. Hints of honey, but it’s quite dry, which is wonderful as nobody likes a sweet, bubble-gummy wit....
Watery texture, with ample, lively carbonation and a soft, supple wheat-like character. Peppery and citrus spice both intermingle with the phenols and esters and it’s tough to differentiate at times, which is impressive. Dry, tart and quite biscuity/bready. Sure, nothing jumps out at you here, and it’s not flashy (it’s just a wit bier) but what can you really find fault with here? Very, very well-done and very refreshing.

Very citrus on the nose. The flavor is also citrus and wheat. Little bitterness that fills the front part of the mouth for a moment. Not okay beer. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Flaska från SB. Frsik och lätt syrlig, välkryddad med apelsinskal och koriander, mycket jästkaraktär. Kanske aningen söt och lite saftig i smaken. Saknar lite stramhet och beska. Ok.

330ml brown bottle, poured Tulip glass. Appearance is hazy yellow with a medium sized airy beige head, that dissipated quickly leaving no lacing. Aroma of banana, pears, herbs, lemon zest and wheat bread. Flavours of herbs, banana, pears and wheat bread. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter. Palate is light bodied, smooth texture and average carbonation. t Blanche Du Hainaut Biologique is flavorful and a easy to drink, a good beer in the style.
