3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
At Epic Beer Fest 2013. Hazy golden with an aroma of slightly sour citrus and wheaty doughy yeast. Flavor is big and herbal with a dry and dusty pale grain backbone, light sourness, barn hay, and earthy hop bitterness.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at PIB, pours a cloudy, murky golden orange with a large white head. Aroma brings out loads of floral notes, cereal grains and some rustic notes. Flavour brings out loads of cereal grains, Belgian yeast, and farmhouse notes. Not sure why this isn’t classified as a saison - seems like it’d fit perfectly in there. Highly drinkable and yeast on the palate. Great thirst beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours an almost clear yellow with a very active white head that clings to the glass. Nose is sweet, a little funk, skunk. Tastes like a Belgian. Very light, crisp, alcohol, little bite.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Corked and caged green bottle from the LCBO. Pours a hazy golden colour with a big frothy white head, good retention and some spot lacing. Heavily carbonated. At first, could only smell Belgian Ale yeast. Then, some apples, earth, spices and hops appeared. Medium-bodied, wet mouthfeel with just a tad of tart sticking. Again, the apples and the mild earth flavours. Hints of spices and grassy hops in the finish. Typical Dupont micro-feel with the earth notes and Belgian yeast.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750 ml bottle into tulip glass, 2012 vintage on the cork. Pours hazy golden amber color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with plenty of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of lemon, pear, apple, coriander, pepper, clove, herbal, floral, wheat, bread, grass, and herbal earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/spicy yeast esters with herbs and a fair amount of malt balance; with good strength. Taste of lemon, pear, apple, coriander, clove, pepper, herbal, floral, wheat, bread, grass, and herbal earthiness. Lingering notes of light fruits, coriander, pepper, herbal, floral, wheat, bread, grass, and herbal earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice balance and complexity of fruity/spicy esters with herbal flavors; with a moderate malt balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a smooth and fairly crisp mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is an excellent herb/spiced saison. All around great balance and complexity of yeast esters and herbs/spices with a moderate malt balance; and very smooth to sip on for 8%. A very enjoyable offering.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750ml bottle. Pours a hazy pale golden colour with a white head. Aromas of spicy yeast, peppercorn, hard water, and a light fruity note that makes me think mango. The taste is slightly sweet, with dough notes and a slight cider-like acidity that totally makes this beer for me. Lots of minerality, light clove, and a metallic spicy finish. Excellent.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
750ml served in a Duvel tulip.
A - Pours a hazy burnt orange with 3 fingers of white head that has excellent retention. The head forms a nice cap and collar and never dissolves.
S - Ground dried grain, very earthy grassiness, black and green pepper corns, cloves, apples, peaches, apricots, and banana esters. Soured cantaloupe really comes out on the second pour.
T - More herbal than the nose, very spicy, concentrated floral flavors, it’s hard to pick out what spices you’re tasting. Good dose of melon and stone fruit, especially apricots mesh with a heavy malty base while herbal bitterness balances out and keeps things semi dry.
M - Aggressive stingy carbonation at first but mellows out and turns creamy. Heavier body but the carbonation helps lighten it up.
Not a common style of beer but this is one of the best I’ve had. Awesome yeast and a hefty malt base. The herbs and spices work very well and aren’t overdone. It’s a challenge to pick out what you’re tasting. This would go great with smoked meats.
A well crafted beer. Worth seeking out if you’re into interested in the style.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
It pours hazy golden yellow with a slight reddish highlight; the head is off-white and mousse-like. The aroma has notes of: lemon-zest, coriander, hay, and a grassy note. The taste light sour that finishes light bitter and medium astringent; there are notes of: lemon-juice, coriander, pepper, sour-berry notes, bananas, and a fresh grain taste. The palate is medium bodied, has medium carbonation (large mouth-feel), and a medium tart finish. Overall, easy-going, yet interesting.
