Bottled - Bedford Beer Festival. 75cl bottle shared with the gathering. The real deal! A copper coloured beer with a full aroma of spices, pepper and spearmint. These aromas all come through into the taste in a massively enjoyable way. Tha alcohol level gives it a great kick. Sounds an odd mix of flavours and I can see why some people would find it odd, but to me this is a truly great, tasty, fully enjoyable experience.

Bottle 750ml. Great beer. Aromas of citrus, caramel, coriander, vanilla, and dough. Taste is sweet, with a hint of sourness. Palate is almost creamy, and full bodied. Amber, cloudy, with a frothy white head.

A golden straw colored pour. Starts off with a huge white head. This quickly fades away, leaving not much in the way of lacing behind it. Just a thin layer of bubbles keep afloat the surface. Honey and malt aromas are the first thing to greet my nose. There is a bit of spiciness to it as well. Without actually having spices. The taste is pretty much on par with the aroma. Sweet and silky smooth. A honey-like coating envelopes my mouth. There is a slight bitterness in the aftertaste. This beer is awesome. I could, and will, drink it daily. My new favorite, until the next one comes.

Described as a Herbed/Spiced Beer on beerAdvocate, I’m not really sure what to expect. But of all the beers on the Holiday offering list, this is one of the few with a very good review/score on Advocate. So, we bought a case, and we’ll just have to crack a bottle to see what we’ve got. First off, the backside of the label tells this lengthy story about how the Posca Rustica came to be. I tried to read it all it one sitting, but had to come back to it in the morning. In any case, they weave a tale of a spiced version of a saison ale that was fed to the Roman soldiers while stationed in modern-day Belgium. Posca Rustica pours out a darker amber color than the standard Saison. There’s a significant rusty shade to the amber color, with a nice white fluffy foam on top. The foam is thick and long-lasting, leaving a nice amount of lacing behind. The aromas are a beautiful melting pot of bready, yeasty-ness, but much less funky than a typical saison. The herbal components are evident, but not intense. The herbal aromas follow through on the palate, which is really cool. In body, it’s fairly light like the saison, but it’s got a much creamier, velvety mouth-feel. It’s got this added layer of complexity that is as much about texture as it is flavor. Right about now, I’m wishing I had ordered more than just this one case.

UPDATED: JAN 17, 2013 Bogate słodowo-aromatyczne piwo. Mocno nagazowane, bardzo obfita piana. Piwo jasne lekko zamglone i mętne. Korek z mojej butelki 75cl głaśno wystrzelił i dymek parował przez dłógi czas podczas nalewania. Zacna rzecz od Dupont. Polecam

Tasted an eight-year-old 2002 with an expiration date of 2007. Bouquet: ginger, pleasantly medicinal with menthol notes. Later showed some licorice. Flavor: Similar to bouquet with some pear and fermented honey characteristics that made for a smooth, rounded body. This too developed some licorice flavors as it warmed up. Outstanding. Complex and ages well.

Yummmm. Poured at a good temperature with a medium sized head that soon settles to a few wisps, a ring and a little lace. Color is a hazy amber with no bubble trails. Aroma is malt, beer, yeast, hop, fruit, wine. Flavor’s like nose with sweet on top with bitter and carbonic tang right below. Vineous, a little grape. Body and carbonation are perfect. Finish is like flavor, fairly long and easy drinking. Excellent brew!

Just a fantastic beer. So glad the LCBO decided to bring these in. Pours a picture perfect cloudy straw yellow with a big pillowy white top. Aroma is yeast, bready malts and straw. Taste has a great mouthfeel, dry belgian yeast with biscuity malts.

UPDATED: FEB 11, 2012 Deep golden pour with a very thick white head. The aroma has a little bit of white pepper and a little bit of very herbal hop aroma and flavour. A little bit of bright fruit and a touch of clove. There is a really great balance of spice and lean malt. A little bit of light citrus over a very dry Duvel-esque flavour along with a little bit of light mint and a floral sort of flavour. It’s a lovely brew.
