COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a beer already brewed in the 1950’s by Dupont Brasseries. As Dupont has extra fermentation capacity now, Olivier has the luxury of crafting some new brews, or re-creating some old specialties. There were two test versions of Monk’s Stout, both at 5.2% abv. One was dry and roasty, and another is said to be a little more rounded. Monk’s Stout is available in 33cl bottles and 20 liter kegs in Belgium.

For a stout, very Belgian. Dark, initially with a coffee coloured head, but not for long. Medium body and carb. Nose starts with sour cherries and finishes with chocolate. Taste also has red and black cherry. It’s beautifully fragrant, but it’s not a stout.

pours a gorgeous black with a light tan head. Not much on the nose but an oaky smoked taste with plum/raisin.

Pours a lightish black with a small beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, licorice, some coffee. Taste is quiet bland, but has some sour features, not really nice. Palate is nice though, with a very fresh feeling. Overall a really boring stout. Doesn’t have anything exciting or tasteful to add.

33 cl systembolaget. Helt ok men hade kanske hoppats på mer av denna. Blev en trevlig fredagsöl.
