COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a beer already brewed in the 1950’s by Dupont Brasseries. As Dupont has extra fermentation capacity now, Olivier has the luxury of crafting some new brews, or re-creating some old specialties. There were two test versions of Monk’s Stout, both at 5.2% abv. One was dry and roasty, and another is said to be a little more rounded. Monk’s Stout is available in 33cl bottles and 20 liter kegs in Belgium.

Very nice and well balanced Stout although I would have hoped for a more outspoken Stout by the Dupont brassery. Nevertheless I think it is quite an accomplishment to create this kind of aromatic stout with so little alcohol.

The aroma of fresh coffee and chocolate. The taste is of much coffee. Good bitterness that fills the mouth a weak moment. Tasty and easy to drink stout. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.

Torr avslutning.

330ml Bottle - Black with a foamy head. Roasted and smoked malts, cocoa and a hint of coffee in the aroma. Roasted and faintly sweet taste with notes of coffee, liquorice, coconut and some milky notes. Enjoyable and it’s always good to see Belgian beers at a more sessionable strength.

330ml bottle. Pitch black with tall, airy rapidly vanishing light brown - tan white head. Sweet fruity aroma with burnt and roasted tones as well as some Belgian yeast. Thin roasted aroma with some notes of Belgian yeast. Little too thin but overall decent Belgian style stout.

Not much aroma, some yeast.. Pours dark with thick head. Very burnt taste, bitter and somewhat sharp, fizzy with bitter finish. Ok not great

330ml bottle from Cornelius. Pours black with a massive beige head. Aromas of liquorice, dark sugar, earthy coffee. Taste is more of the same, light spicy linger. Dry finish.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Herbal and yeasty smell. Similar taste at first but then I get some dark malts and roasted flavours. However the roasted and dark malts aren’t very dominant. Feels very belgian. Not overly exciting but drinkable.
