Tap. Pitch black with a two-finger tan head. Taste is of lightly roasted malt. A bit sweet with a lightly bitter aftertaste. Overall pretty average. But good

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours black, brown at edges, huge head that dissipates to a thin head. Aroma is bitter baking chocolate. Must point out the highly carbonic mouthfeel, as it almost overwhelms the flavor. Medium to light body. Bone dry unsweetened bitter baking chocolate flavor with some peppery accents, just to accentuate the dryness even further. Bordering on acrid. I love me some Dupont, but this just didn’t work for me.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 11/20
pours dark brown with a very nice beige head, very good retention and lacing. very mineral, dark and prolonged roastiness, raisins, a certain belgiumness, smoke and fruitiness, roasted acidity and coffee, some phenols, muted spices. average carbonation, borderline prickly, light body - tad thin, coffee and ashy finish. DP.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
330ml bottle pours a dark brown almost black color with a finger of light beige head that leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is light roasted grains with chocolate and hints of coffee. Taste is a chocolate malty sweetness with a roasted grain bitterness with a nutty finish. A little bit mild for the style, but is easy to drink, so if one is in the mood for an easy drinking, dark ale, this is the one for you.

Dupont - Monk’s Stout
This is a seasonal Winter Beer that it has taken me far to long to actually take out of my fridge and try.
Dark clear pour with lots and lots of foamy tan head. Clingy with arching lacing. Nose is wet muddy and grassy, an after-rain kind of smell. The mouth is pretty simple. Wet. Low carbonation. More grassy malty earthiness. Not very flavorful or thick for a stout. I think some lagger lovers would actually dig this.
It’s not bad, very drinkable. Not the best brew I’ve had tonight but nothing really wrong with it.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at The Fiddler, Den Haag. Poured a deep mahogany with a frothy off-white head. The aroma is roasted malt and coffee. The flavour is medium bitter with some roasted malt, coffee and a little smoke on the watery liqourice palate. Rather tasty, but not a classic stout.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours an extremely dark brown color with a very thick frothy tan head on it. Nose is dry and roasty with some sour dark elements coming through, almost like an RIS. Taste is slightly bitter and definitely dry, and feels a little light. OK, but nothing special.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Big bottle for my #50 at Wob. Green bottle funk aroma mixed w/ chocolate. Nice dark black pour. Thin tan head and a thin mouthfeel. Very dry and champagne like palate. No apparent alcohol taste. Sour and bitter, and a strange stout no doubt. Reminds me more of a dunkel or black lager than a stout.
