COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a beer already brewed in the 1950’s by Dupont Brasseries. As Dupont has extra fermentation capacity now, Olivier has the luxury of crafting some new brews, or re-creating some old specialties. There were two test versions of Monk’s Stout, both at 5.2% abv. One was dry and roasty, and another is said to be a little more rounded. Monk’s Stout is available in 33cl bottles and 20 liter kegs in Belgium.

Draft. Poured black with a smallish off-white head. Aroma and flavor were mild roasted malt, a slight smokiness, apple cider, and a slight earthiness. Light body. Very drinkable.

Great Belgian stout with coffee and chocolate taste. Appropriate herbal and fruit/raisin hints.

Pours a lightish black with a small beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, licorice, some coffee. Taste is quiet bland, but has some sour features, not really nice. Palate is nice though, with a very fresh feeling. Overall a really boring stout. Doesn’t have anything exciting or tasteful to add.

33 cl systembolaget. Helt ok men hade kanske hoppats på mer av denna. Blev en trevlig fredagsöl.

Not my cup of tea! Reminds me a bit of hoegarden, but a bit darker. Somewhat unpleasant oaky finish.

Flaska systembolaget. Brunsvart kulör med ljusbrunt skum. Jordig doft med lite kaffe. I smaken känns rostade malttoner med kaffe och bitter choklad. Aningen tunn och lite vattnig

Dark brown with nice medium creamy beige head. Sour and bitter well balanced taste, but certain lack of nuances. Nice roasted bitterness stays in the aftertaste.
