This is not a traditional “dark” beer, because its not heavy and you can drink more than one without feeling full. Hopped with Nugget, Cascade, and Mt. Hood Hops.

A pretty standard dark lager with plenty of roasted malts. Pretty thin and not terribly hoppy.

Brown pour, off white head. Aroma has some coffee, roasted malt, light chocolate. Flavor has a good coffee, smokey and roasted note to it. Better than I thought, but still not amazing.

Beaver (1060) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - MAR 20, 2010
12 oz bottle. Pours a ruby brown with a medium frothy off white head that retains fairly well and laces the glass.

The aroma is sweet grainy, worty malts with some chocolate.

The flavor is sweet chocolate malts and grains, nuts and a bit of an acidic slightly sour twang. The mouthfeel is light bodied and a little watery.

Overall, lots of raw grainy off notes. Not too good.

On tap at the Durango Tasting Room. Poured a deeper orange color (almost brown) with a small sized off white head. Aromas of roast, some grains and and some caramel. Tastes follow suit. Lacing left on the glass.

Dark. Malt based nose of caramel and some different chocolate variety. Great hop flavor with some biting cascade behind a similar malt flavor. To thin... good idea, average execution.

Bottle poured a clear dark brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of dark chocolate, carmel, light roastiness, light coffee and light vanilla. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of dark chocolate, carmel and roastiness with a crisp roasty finish.

Clear dark red brown pour with a light tan head, medium retention and nice looking lace. Green apple and a touch of roasted grain on the aroma. Flavor is bland with some carbonation that leads to a slightly roasted grain. Could be more here. Medium-light body with moderate carbonation and no alcohol warmth.

Had at the summit Brewfest & BBQ on 5/16/09. Color is a dark brown with good carbonation and a small tight tan head. Aroma is light with a little roasted malt coming though. Its a lighter medium bodied brew with an easy roasted malt taste and a clean finish. Overall it doesn’t have a lot going on, its just a plain dark lager.

When fresh this beer is a very nice dark lager. IT is not overly sweet and thick like others in the category. Smells somewhat roasty on the nose with some bread and a bit of malt. Pours a reddish brown color with some offish white head that goes away quick. Mouthfeel is a pleasant medium but like many of Durnago’s beers it lacks in the carbonation. Flavor is malty and sweet with some dry roast going on. Some hops are noticeable on the end. When fresh it is a nice offering... Hard to find it this way because it sits in the stores for a long time

(bottle). Pours a dark brown color. Medium size tan head. Minimal lacing. Roasted malt aroma. Strong malty taste. Smooth finish. Soft to moderate carbonation.
