3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 RealAleDave (45) - St. Louis, USA - NOV 10, 2007
On draft.
Clear medium gold with a bright white head that settles to a thin cap.
Big pine leads the nose, with a firm layer of crackery malt below. There’s decent complexity to the hop component with some citric, herbal notes that come out with time.
A bit thinner than expected in the mouth. Decent malt, but not enough to balance the bitterness that’s there. It’s good to see an IPA that carries a good amount of bitterness, but there needs to be more balance than this for me. Flavors are pretty simple and linear, but very clean.
Mouthfeel comes across a bit fizzy due to the lack of malt. It’s a good beer, and fine for a session, but not my favorite.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20 wchesser (338) - Denver, Colorado, USA - APR 18, 2012
What’s up with the people hating on this? This is a decent IPA...maybe there is a lot of bottle variation? Thick fading head tons of lacing. Nice light copper color. Aroma of floral hops and orange peel. A bit bitter but pretty balanced. Only fault is it doesn’t finish super clean...nothing nasty lingering just grapefruit pith. This beer is way better than the paltry 49 at the present. Not a hop bomb but solid and inoffensive.
3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 drfabulous (2286) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - APR 16, 2012
12 ounce got as extra. Malty and sweet. Some pine. Not a hop bomb, but sweet IPA.
1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 Beaver (913) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - MAR 1, 2012
12oz bottle. Pours a light golden amber with a thin white head that quickly goes to a thin film.
The aroma is extremely subdued - some sweet corny malts.
The flavor is sweet vegetal malts and a little minty leather with a big metallic ashy bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and watery.
Overall, not a good IPA. It has decent bitterness but is a mess.

Draft @ Cortez beer fest. Amber and bright with decent head. Aroma is muddled from a disjointed array of hops but it tastes great. Balanced and good malt character, with a bright hop finish. The character of the hop is herbal, piney, and Douglas fir.

Bottle/Durango Colorado. Not much else to be said here that hasn’t already been touched on. Good IPA from a great city in Colorado.
