Cask, Bodega, Newcastle. Pallid gold looks with a thin white head. Nose was restrained grassy hop alongside a little fruit. Flavour was similar, clean and crisp. Slickish mouthfeel. Dry bitter finish. Solid session fodder.

Keg dispense at the brewery. Hazy golden colour with decent bright white head, plenty of lacing. Aroma is grapefruit, grass, slight tangerine, malt sweetness. Taste is pithy grapefruit, fairly smooth orange, biscuit malt; plenty of residual hop bitterness. Surprised to see this is only 4% ABV - would hold its own comfortably with many US-inspired pales in the 5-5.5% range. Some might say the carbonation is a little too lively, but I found it to be pretty perfect - adds greatly to the refreshing nature of the beer. A real summer session ale - quality stuff.

Super grainy aroma, lots of barley. Taste has that too. A bit warm, but still refreshing. Lots of husks. Long grainy bitter finish - herbal.

Mini-cask (cask-conditioned) from Fenwicks in Newcastle. Hazy golden with a smooth, creamy orange marmalade and bitter grapefruit flavour followed by a sharp bitter-sweet finish.

Cask at CPK on 14th January 2012. Clear very pale gold with off white foam. Hoppy fruity aroma then exquisite liquid with pipe smoke, wood smoke and bitterness. Gorgeous herby touch then a delectable end with herb hoppiness and Brussels sprouts bitterness. Light body and velvety texture.

Cask, handpump at The Shoulder of Mutton, Thursday 27th Oct 2011. Pours gold, it almost sparkles, looks wonderful with a great nice white head atop. Crisp, clean with biting hops, grapefruit comes through, dry at end, lovely beer, in superb nick. A7 A5 T8 P4 Ov15 3.9
