3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Sigmund (3713) - Hafrsfjord, - MAR 27, 2011
Cask (hand pump) at the Darlington Spring Thing Beer Festival. ABV is 4.0%. Pale golden colour, low head. Nice citrussy aroma. Distinctly bitter hoppy flavour, but has too weak body to support the bitterness. Still props to Durham for daring to brew hoppy ales, while so many other English breweries are "playing safe" with boring beers.

Cask at CPK on 14th January 2012. Clear very pale gold with off white foam. Hoppy fruity aroma then exquisite liquid with pipe smoke, wood smoke and bitterness. Gorgeous herby touch then a delectable end with herb hoppiness and Brussels sprouts bitterness. Light body and velvety texture.

UPDATED: JUN 1, 2012 On cask at the Crown Posada, Newcastle. Pours a light blonde colour with a fair white head. Fruity hop aroma with grassy notes and caramel. Similar flavours with quite a dry finish. OK. Also had this at the Caley Sample Room. Pours a blonde colour with a thin white head. Aroma of pineapple, yeast, caramel and alcohol. Similar flavours. Lovely and bitter with a bone dry finish. Mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel.
