COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mainly available Bottle Conditioned. Has appeared on cask occasionally.
Full bodied Maris Otter malt with a small addition of wheat and Vienna malt are aromatised by a typical Belgian charge of coriander. The result is a smooth, sweetish, luscious and fruity experience. The peach and orange notes of the malt base are enhanced by the judicious use of a single American hop, centennial. A very satisfying beer with a Belgian character.

Hazy golden with some flecks in suspension. I recommend having a second glass handy when opening this; the yeast in mine had been quite busy and the bottle was still foaming over when I ran out of space in my glass! This smells a bit more like a witbier than a tripel. Itís a bit lighter body than a Dutch or Belgian tripel, so itís clearly an English take on the style. Bit of fruit on the flnish along with the warmth. Not bad.

What a brew! Really nice, great marzipan flavour, really nice. But the alcohol is right there in your face, taste a lot highr than 9%... Looks gorgeous

Bottle. Mitchellís Wines, Sheffield. Slow gusher. Hazy gold. Big, bubnly, white head. Lovely, honeyed caramel aroma. Quite floral. Bit of peachy hop. Underpinned by a soft, Belgian yeast character. Taste is toasty sweet, turning dry. Light bitterness at the end. Rich, full mouthfeel. Doesnít feel the ABV, though. Quite warming. Finishes soft sweet, turning yeasty dry. Very nice. Super easy drinking.

750ml bottle to accompany Christmas dinner. Stood in the cellar for a week+ previous. Popped the stopper, big foamy rush, poured into Hoegaarden tulip. Butterscotch peach and orange aroma. Hazy orange brown with an assertive off-white head. Citric hop flavour, prominent alcohol. Medium bodied astringent finish. Good with the rich flavours.

Bottle @ Appellation Comely Bank tasting. From the brewery. Appearance - amber to light brown with a proportionate head, which then falls away a little quickly. Nose - bready, with dried fruit. Light biscuits in the background. Taste - more of the same. It tastes quite light given itís 9%. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy yet crunchy texture and a dry balanced finish. Overall - itís decent and the alcohol is well hidden. Maybe could go a bit more complexity though.

500ml bottle, a cloying caramel sweetness that overpowers quite a bit, would possibly go well with some sharp blue cheese to cut through it. Would recommend to share a bottle of this size though.

Sampled from a bottle from the brewery. Amber colour with a thick, foaming white head. Aromas of candyfloss, bubblegum, orange and spices. The taste is of heavy malts, alcohol, coriander, and hay-like hops. Quite a lot of sweetness, pronounced bitterness and lots of booze; but the whole thing does not really come together, perhaps because it is lacking the citrusy notes expected from the yeast. A good beer, but not, Iím afraid, great.

danlo (1584) - Darlington, Durham, ENGLAND - NOV 11, 2014
500ml bottle from the Cheese & Wine Shop, Darlington. Deep orange amber colour, lively off-white foam head leaving alittle lacing and aroma of fragrant juicy orange, tropical fruity. Flavour is sweet malty, candy, orange peel, tropical fruit, hop resin, yeast notes. Smooth mouthfeel, medium to full bodied, fine carbonation, dry earthy slightly boozy finish. Very drinkable.
