COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mainly available Bottle Conditioned. Has appeared on cask occasionally.
Full bodied Maris Otter malt with a small addition of wheat and Vienna malt are aromatised by a typical Belgian charge of coriander. The result is a smooth, sweetish, luscious and fruity experience. The peach and orange notes of the malt base are enhanced by the judicious use of a single American hop, centennial. A very satisfying beer with a Belgian character.

Bouteille. Blonde foncé (on pourait dire chatain clair) Elle sent bon le houblon (fleuri et fruité) et pourtant elle n’est pas (trop) amère. Ca ressemble à un bonne triple d’abbaye mais en meilleur. J’aime.

(bottle) Hazy, orange-golden colour with a blond mid-sized foamy head. Fruity hoppy aroma with a mildly malty background and (unfortunately) present coriander spice. Mildly sweet flavour, medium to full bodied with a moderate carbonation. Malty and mildly fruity taste with spicy notes of coriander and ginger; mildly sweet and delicately bitter finish with rounded malty and fruity hoppy accents, but also with very present notes of coriander. Finally too much spiced for my liking. 13.IV.13

Bottle from Gluggles in York. Aroma of Belgian yeast/fruity esters. Quite fruity for a tripel. Full bodied. Flavor is mixed fruit, perhaps banana included, with something quite suggesting burnt toffee. I could believe this was brewed in Belgium. Finishes a bit earthy/toffee/fruity. The combination of flavors is arguably unique and very arguably complex. Nice surprise.

Bottle: Deep golden with an orangey sheen and a medium-sized, relatively auickly collapsing off-white head, sweet bready-fruity nose with a certain amount of hops in the background; solid sweet-bitter flavour, quite full bodied, but a bit fizzy; drier in the hoppy and bready-fruity finish, a warming alcohol-burn is detectable. Announced as a "Belgian Tripel", but certainly british…

500ml bottle (Viisi Pennia, Helsinki)
Love the aroma. Very subtle and soft, but delightful spicy aroma. Not totally belgian, as it veers towards some english ale esters, but not english either. Alas there’s a tiny hint of acetone in the retronasals, but otherwise they’re delightful, spicy grains, real raw malted barley. taste again is a mysterious combination of the english malts and the belgian spiciness. Alas I do see the yeast-piss (alcohol), but the soft warming natural organic mellowness makes it perfectly fitting. This is a great way of getting drunk. It’s not he plan, but at 9% it’s hard to avoid, but you have to forgive it. Lovely gentle graininess, this is why Marris Otter is so in demand. Super balance, and a great see-saw between the belgian and the english. This really is a superb way of getting drunk. I love every sniff and every sip, but I know this way drunkenness lies. 9% in 500ml is danger. Lovely rich body and a super soft wave after wave of mellow malts. Anna thinks I’m done with the review ow, and I don’t want to face it. She’s write.

(Bottle, 0.5 l - BBE May 2015, at Oluttupa Viisi Penniä, 20130324) A gusher. The beer poured amber and hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had caramell, malts, Belgian style yeast and fruitiness. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, caramell, honey, mildly Belgian style yeast, hops and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. A very malty English strong ale with a hint of Belgian style yeast. Not a bad beer but not a tripel either.

Bottle. Dark golden, hazy, average and fully diminishing head. Moderate, malty - some wheat and sugary sweetish aroma, some fruitiness with some citrus, some Belgian yeast. Body is medium to full, malty - some wheat and sweet flavor, some caramel and some fruitiness, light citrus and light alcohol. Finish is average, malty - some wheat and sweetish, some caramel and light citrus, light herbal - grassy hoppyness, light alcohol. Sugary sweet English tripel - why?

Bottle. Exploded out of the bottle which didn’t please me. Bronze appearance and full of fruitiness and a body that grabs your attention. Impressive apart from the explosive start.
