3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Mr Lawrence Wine Merchants, Brockley. Cloudy orange pour with a beige head. Very citrusy aromas with a splash of pear and pineapple. Tangerine, herbs, pears in the flavour. Quite sweet. Didn’t appreciate this one a much as the other Durham Brewery beers i’ve sampled.

3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
500 ml bottle. Pale golden brown body with a white head. Very nice aroma of fruit, hops and some malt. Flavor is malt and dark fruit with too much raw alcohol to be pleasant. Not in balance.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Drink of Fulham, drunk at home on 31st May 2010. Clear copper with a thick finger’s worth of white head. Nose of dry spices, yeast and alcohol. In the mouth, it’s very Belgian at first - lots of spice, alcohol warmth, heated oranges, treacly sugar. Good full body, it’s smooth and lingering without being clingy. Really nice beer.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A: The pour is a golden color with some amber notes to it and a fluffy white foam on top.
S: An interesting smell to this. I had no idea what it should be classified as until BA told me it’s a barleywine. A quite estery and yeasty nose with a distinct sweet fruit component (applesauce?).
T: The yeast character is again present in the nose with some definite sweetness and a mild spice quality. Sweet malts and fruits provide the bulk of the flavor.
M: The body is a bit on the full side with a mild carbonation and a lingering sweetness.
D: Quite a strange beverage. I did enjoy it, but I can’t exactly articulate why.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very nice barleywine although the aroma was a bit week for the style. Nice light cloudy amber with a small head. The flavor is nicely sweet to start and then the hops come in. The after taste is very good lasting well into the night. My friend wyzzywyz22 has out done himself with this selection so far. Everyone has been a winner.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle 500 ml from Corbridger Larder in Corbridge (Northumberl). Beer golden-orange with small white head. Perfume of a strong malted body, sweetness. Beer complex and well balanced, powerful and rich, touches of orange, alcohol, pepper, spices and fruit. Deep and sweet, with alcoholic heat, worked for an excellent result, smooth. Aftertaste on alcohol, but ideal, round, thickand a little dryness. Not for the small sheeps!

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle conditioned ale, bb. Feb.2010, cellared for about one and a half year after I bought the 500ml bottle at the Real Ale in a Bottle Bar at GBBF 08. A bit gushing when opened. Frothy, white head slowly fading atop of a slightly hazy, light amber body. Moderate smell of spiced yeasty fruitiness. Delicious taste profile with a fine blend of succulent fruits like a bit of grapefruits and lots of oranges, and fruity dryness added by a solid smack of spices. Rounded hop bitterness to the ending sustained by warming alcohol. Good drinking on a Friday eve (Tromsø, 15.01.2010).

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a cloudy golden orange with a white head that quickly disappeared. Aroma has notes of orange, alcohol, cider and malt. Citrus flavours sit well with the hops up front with subdued additions of honey and sherbet in back. Not as thick or full bodied as some other barley wines but very pleasant none the less. Alcohol is noticeable but still easy drinking. Recommended.
