Very pale Maris Otter Malt and traditional English Goldings hops replicate the original pale bitter. Bitterness is robust but well rounded with a spicy peppery finish and heady alcohol esters.

Pours hazy, golden. Large foamy white head. Not a ton or aroma at the start, mainly just some grassy notes. Medium/heavy body. Vegetal flavors; bitter, dry finish. I don’t find the finish all that spicy, contra the deScription.

Not sure if there is something wrong with this one or if I just do not like this beer. The peppery finish is there, but it also has some wryness in it that isn’t great.

500 ML bottle Clear straw in the glass, white head. Good lacing and body to the head. Nose is lemon, orange and grapefruit. Subtle but noticeable. Taste is more assertive. Orange, grapefruit, pine and lemon. Touches of biscuit. Dry and clean, without the resin. Easy to drink for the 7% and not a hop monster either. Solid English IPA

Aromat: ziołowo-trawiaste aromaty chmielowe i słodowo - karmelowa (lekko w tle) baza Smak: lekko cierpkie, ziołowe, goryczka solidna, zdecydowanie klasycznie europejska, w tle lekkie owocowe smaczki i delikatna cytrusowość. Bardzo przyjemna English IPA

6th Feb 2015: 3rd Belgian Beer Board bottle exchange at De Bierboom (Brugge). Shared bottle. Pale golden pour with a white topping. Nice blend in both the nose and taste, both malts and hops combining to give a good bitter and refreshing feel to the brew. Mild citrus notes are equalled out by a spicy and fruitiness below the surface. Nice, the alcohol level suited the flavours and although high for a UK IPA I thought it an interesting and delightful beer.

UPDATED: FEB 8, 2015 English-style IPA (glad those are still around as well, among all those - lovely - American interpretations), my first beer from this particular county. Stubby, very English 50 cl bottle. This bottle has apparently been lying down, as the neck contained a fair amount of a substance looking a lot like ’mud’ (probably dead yeast and proteins)... A bit off-putting I must say, but anyway. Cloudy peach blonde with more bits of this ’mud’ floating around; thick, regular, lightly yellowish white, creamy, stable head. A whole basket of ripe fruit in the nose, cantaloupe, orange, strawberry, overripe pear, lemon, pineapple, and impressions of limoncello, yoghurt, hay, tonic water, aspirin, vanilla. Crisp onset, sharpish carbonation, vivid fruitiness but more dry than I had expected, yeasty, minerally, bready with a grainy and smooth pale maltiness underneath, hop bitterness setting in early and increasing in the finish, explicitly bitter like grapefruit or even tonic water, leafy, very earthy and spicy, very long, tingling, with some malt sweetness underlying it and a hint of warming, gin-like alcohol. This is great for hop lovers, very quenching and appetizing, in which the Goldings hops shine in all their glory. Interesting indeed, as I mostly had citrussy, American hops in my IPAs lately.

A nice clean and crisp IPA. With a lovely bitterness and gorgeous amorma. Good, very good.

Sampled from a bottle purchased from the brewery. Pale golden colour with quite a heavy sediment, but pours to produce a very clear beer in the glass. Malty and hoppy aromas. A classic English-style pale ale, with plenty of alcoholic strength to give backbone to the traditional flavours. Earthy and slightly fruity, with the mildest hint of oranges and lemons. A really excellent pale ale, very much to my taste.
