3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 DuffMan (4428) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - MAY 30, 2012
Bottle. Yikes!! Enormous foaming white head collapses into chunky flotsam atop a hazy honey-gold body. Aroma is bitter citrus peel, pepper (lots of pepper actually), and yeast. A bit of a soapy quality to the aroma. Pale biscuity malt flavour base with a passing note of soft melon fruit before an intense astringent pithy bitterness envelopes the palate. I think this may be a poster child for English-style IPAs. I liked it, but I didn’t love it. I think I’ve become accustomed to North American hop varietals in my IPAs.
