2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20 jeverszeuge (442) - GERMANY - MAY 8, 2013
# 3299

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 mile (2112) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAR 29, 2013
Bottle. Very dark brown - almost black, small to average and mostly diminishing light brown head. Moderate to full, dry aroma, light roastiness with sour berry fruitiness, faint coffee. Body is medium, dry flavor, light roastiness with sour berry fruitiness. Finish is average to long, dry, some roastiness with sour fruitiness, faint coffee. IS + gueuze = weird, not for me.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Idiosynkrasie (1843) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - MAR 22, 2013
330ml bottle. Black colour with small, reawakening, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, tan head. Sourish aroma has herbal vinegar notes, hints of "Sauerfleisch", sauerkraut, laurel. Taste is initially sourish with a sweet balsamic vinegar touch, some relic malt sugar sweetness, later just dry and sour, hints of roasty dark malt flashing up in the finish. No, I’m still not into this sourish stuff.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 olio (4082) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAR 19, 2013
33 cl bottle. BBE 01/2017.
Pours dark red, almost black color with a medium sized beige head, dissipates quite rapidly. Aroma is quite weird, some sour berries and fruits and at the same time roasted malts, caramel and yeast. Some very faint coffee notes and goose berry bush too.
Flavor is equally unorthodox, sour dark berries and citrus fruits, salty licorice, burnt malts and mild chocolate. The berries linger on the aftertaste quite long, maybe a bit too long. Somewhat acidic palate with a tart finish.
The odd blend works somehow on the nose, but definitely not on the taste. On of the weirdest brews in a long time.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 danlo (342) - Durham, ENGLAND - MAR 17, 2013
330ml bottle from the Cheese & Wine Shop, Darlington. Dark ruby black colour, foamy beige head which diminishes leaving some lacing and aroma of roast malt, coffee, chocolate, leather, with a sour fruity slight barnyard edge. Taste is an up-front tangy berry fruit sourness intermingled with coffee and chocolate, and a sweet apple cider like note. Medium bodied, high to medium carbonation, slightly oily mouth feel and light bitterness through to a dry finish. Very drinkable indeed.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 dEnk (2635) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - MAR 14, 2013
Bottle @ Deans crappy music tasting. Aroma has some red fruit, bretty notes, liquorice. Flavour is liquorice and roast covered by a big bretty and sour note, loads of red fruits.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Allen (2670) - SWITZERLAND - MAR 13, 2013
Bottled 33cl. A pitch black beer with an average sized beige head. Belgian yeast and roasted malt throughout. Moderate sourness. Extremely drinkable.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 MoritzF (7756) - Bochum, GERMANY - MAR 3, 2013
(bottle, 33cl) Black colour with a beige and short foamy layer. Lots of Gueuze/Lambic smell, instead of the expected dark and roasted malt-character, except for some little roasted malt and leather. Moderately sour flavour, medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Present Lambic-character with hints of roasted malt, chocolate and Barnyard/Brett notes; moderately sour and bitter-tart finish with a lingering apple-fruity aftertaste. A very interesting experiment. 03.III.13

Bottle at Deanso’s crappy music tasting. The aroma is big and zesty. The flavour is hugely sour and that’s what dominates. Not what I was expecting but I’m not disappointed.
