3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
starts off very well, with a roast, chocolate impy stout and just a touch of the sour side. As I got into it though it did not quite sit right. not really sure I can put into words. definitely worth a try if you come across this one. I think most people will find it polarizing-love or hate.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: MAR 14, 2016 Bottle conditioned. Mahogany with no head. Oak and alcohol. Turkish delight, milk chocolate, black malt. Sour with some roasted malt notes. I’m open minded but a stout gueze cross was a bit outré for me.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bought this bottle in Q3 2015 and consumed at home in late February 2016.
AROMA: Burnt caramel, leathery. Fruity.
APPEARANCE: On first glance jet black. Slight red hue. Tiny head and loads of lacing.
TASTE: Burnt caramel, dates, raisins, sour. Chocolate was for me really detectable.
PALATE: Sour, little if any carbonation but it works. Long lasting finish. ABV is detectable.Slight lingering bitterness from the chocolate notes.
OVERALL: Not bad, this was my second bottle. For a dark sour though Rullquin for example is preferable for me.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
330ml at home in Richmond. As ’Durham Diabolus’, 10%, BB Jan 2017 (2012 vintage?), one of 1000 bottles. Pitch black with a big foamy brown head, light lacing. Aroma is chocolatey, lemon, dried out car air freshener, softmints. Body is rounded, soft carbonation, a touch foamy. Taste is chocolatey, some sharp tang, mouth puckering lemon, mint, fairly acidic and dry into the finish. An interesting experiment, but doesn’t come together that well. Slow drinking. Would I prefer to have a gueuze and a stout separately? Absolutely. Not dissimilar to the bottled version of Harveys Imperial Stout. Sour stouts can be OK when it’s subtle. Like the Harveys, this is too much, but it grew on me a lot.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark brown beer with a short tan head, some laces. Sour aroma, torrefied and fruity, wood, bretta. The taste is sourish, roasted, with chocolate, apple, vinous notes, sour cream but without alcoholic heavyness. Bitter finish which contrasts suddenly without fruit. A beer that ass between two chairs.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Barwa czarna, z ciemnobrunatnymi prześwitami. Piany brak. W aromacie intensywna, lekko kwaskowa dzikość miesza się z kakao i kawą. W tle lekkie winne aromaty. W smaku początkowo lekko kwaśne i wyraźnie dzikie, następnie pojawia się lekko wodnista czekolada w płynie i kakao. Gdzieś tam na chwilę czuć posmaki owocowe (jeżyny?). Finisz lekko słodki. Ciekawe piwo, złożone w smaku.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle: Almost black with a well hidden ruby sheen, small off-white head; moderate to solid sourish-vinous to caramelly nose, a bit leathery, as well; moderate to solid sourish-sweet flavour, medium bodied and relatively soft; fruity to caramelly finish with distinctive traces of blasamico and - maybe also - light traces of chocolate.Complex and nice…

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pitch black, very small head. In aroma roasted malts mixed with low sour notes. In taste it’s clear it’s soured version of imperial stout, roastiness and weak chocolate notes mix with vinegar and sour fruit notes. The beer is dry, sour in the finish. Interesting, but not a fan.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 7/20
Wbrett and beryllium the smell and taste. Unlike any other imperial stout I’ve tasted. More like a juice cocktail with coffee and alcohol. Didn’t much like it.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at home picked up from Cotteridge wines a while back. Thanks to Rich The villan for the reccomanedation. Opaque black pour with a lasting mid tan head. Aroma is big funky brett with a pinch of lacto, dark roasted grains, tart fruits, apricot. Some berry, vanilla sweetness. Flavour is smooth dark roast, dark choc, tart green apple, creamy, woody. Really tangy and bitter sweet. Palate is full and smooth, highish carbonation, pinch of sweetness, finish is tart and sour. The beer has a little age on it and it is really nicely rounded, no tell-tail signs of age. Nice layers of complexity. Really good.
