On tap at Bar Hop under Pourtentious ESB. Surprised I hadnít rated this yet. Golden amber pour, nitro cream head. Biscuit malt on the aroma. Not complex. Very bready and a little yeasty and heavy. Dry finish. Itís ok. Good session ale.

On cask at the Ceili Cottage (as Durham Tommyknocker ESB). Pours a cloudy orange/ brown with average-sized slightly off-white head, good retention. Caramel malt and bread in the aroma. Big caramel malt taste with a little sweet chocolate and grain. Subtle bitterness in finish. Nice.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Smells like slightly soured malt. Taste has soft carbonation, on cask. Has some mild bitterness. Actually one of the most decent profiles of an ESB Iíve had, especially considering I donít really like the style that much. Definitely some fruitiness in there, apple or pear or something. Subtle but itís there. On cask at barvolo.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sample on cask. Pours deep reddish/amber. Aroma is grainy malt, slightest touch of caramel, light hop balance. Perfectly pleasant but without richness ESBís can have.
