COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Permanent. Also available bottle conditioned.
Evensong is a rich ruby coloured 20C English bitter. Based on an original recipe from 1937 this beer captures the flavour of its time. Goldings and Fuggles hops combine with darker malts to give a traditional English character.

Bottled (BC)@Bishops Arms Vasagatan, Stockholm. Amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is quite bitter fruity and floral. Flavour is fruits, some floral notes, mild yeasty and sweet maltyness as well. Rather carbonated, but otherwise smooth and nice. Some rather vegetably notes start to show once it warms up a bit.

Ethereal (2417) - Los Angeles, California, USA - JUL 10, 2010
500ml bottle from Drink of Fulham, drunk 11th July 2010. Chestnut in colour with a persistent beige head. Nose has a bit of spice but is mainly musty and old. Taste has some fruitiness, mainly toffee & toasted malt. Rather soapy too. Clings to the mouth. Medium bodied. Overall I was really disappointed with this as I’d been so impressed by the Benedictus.

TheGrandMaster (2334) - Auckland, NEW ZEALAND - JUL 4, 2008
Whoa - the Evensong doesn’t travel so well - upon opening, it spews forth. Quickly pouring the bottle (in New Zealand), it is a cloudy brown with a foamy off white head. The nose is good though, floral and malty, with hints of stone fruits - very warming. I think the palate has been thrown around too much in the travel, but the mouthfeel is bitter and full. The malt flavours are somewhat earthy, with tobacco. In the finish, the malty becomes more bready with a lingering fruity hop bitterness. A shame to not be drinking it in the UK, where I am sure its performance would have been better, but I can still sense what made it a Champion.
