3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
(draught at Smokeless Joe) Hazy medium gold / light amber. Pine/citrus hops aroma. Lovely hops flavor with enough malt to balance; well on the way to imperial IPA territory.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: FEB 8, 2007 Draught at Cíest What. The tap handle for this was a syringe full of hops, so along with the name, I knew to expect big hops and thatís what I got. Really nice aromatic, light piney/citrusy hops, with a big presence. A decent amount of malt balances it out. Reminds me of a bolder, hoppier Tankhouse Ale. Mild-moderate bitterness in the finish, quite sessionable. This a really nice and supremely drinkable IPA and like other here have mentioned, it good to be finally getting these beers from Ontario brewers.

Draught @ beerbistro: Another honest IPA from an Ontario brewer? Huzzah! Pours a great copper with a removable head. Aroma of hops, pine, and some citrus; excellent! The flavour is top notch with a burst of hops that makes way for a melange of flavours including roasted malts alongside the citrus and pine I found in the scent. Heavy on the hops, as Iíd hoped, but quite well balanced with the more subtle supporting flavours. Loved it.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at the Black Tomato, Ottawa, Gold orange ale with a thin white head.. Aroma of floral piney hops, with light berry notes. In mouth, a good biscuitty malt with classy floral hops. Medium bodied. A good IPA, but not as hoppy as the name suggest (but for Ontario standards, pretty decent).

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Too hopy for me, it was very well brewed, very dark, good foam and not annoying but too bitter.

On tap at <a
href=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/ontario/ target=blank>The Volo in Toronto. Golden amber in colour, dissipating off-white head, some lace. The aroma is quite floral, some sweet caramel malts, light lemon. The large amounts of floral hops carry over to the flavour, some light orange citrus, caramel malt balance. Bitter dry mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes with some moderate hop bitterness, floral and dry. Interesting.

<!-- b -->Cask.<!-- /b --> Cloudy amber w/ small ring of of tan foam. Fresh, citrusy, piny hop aroma w/ notes of caramel & toffee. Thick, chewy feel. Big hoppy flavour but well-supported w/ lots of sweet malt. Finish was bitter & dry, but also mildly green & leafy w/ notes of tobacco & tea.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Volo.
Aroma of piney, citrus hops, with some malt too. Light copper, small custard head. Taste starts off very hoppy, a fine malty backbone soon presents itself. Medium bodied, well balanced between the sweet malt and itís appreciated bitterness. Really fine example. Kudos to Ralph for inspiring the brewer!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Volo at the suggestion of hogtownharry. Beautiful clear, medium amber with a beige head and good lacing. Nice balanced malt and hop aroma, light brown sugar and caramel notes, english style dusty, herbal hops. Sweet caramel maltiness up front, fading to a bold hoppiness, lots of floral and herbal dusty flavors. Medium body and gentle carbonation. My favorite of the Ontario IPAís on this day.
