tiggmtl (4118), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jan 4, 2008 Sweaty, catty, citrus grapefruit and orange suggestions to the nose. Clear copper coloured body is topped by a low tan head that recedes slowly to partial cover with excellent lacing. Caramel malts are quite pronounced but blend well with moderate bitterness. Plenty of lingering citrus and grassy hop character in the aftertaste. Very dry in texture with moderate carbonation. Sampled on tap at Caffe Volo during Grey Cup weekend 2007. JoeMcPhee (3454), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Apr 8, 2008 Tap at Beer Bistro and Volo. Copper coloured brew. Aroma is loaded with pine and sweet grapefruity citrus. Lean crisp malts with a bit of breadiness as well. Flavour is quite nice. Good balance of pine and malt with a firm bitterness on the back. Lingering piny resinousness. Excellent IPA. Radek Kliber (3081), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 8, 2006 Aroma of refreshing earthy , medium intense bitterness with solid malt base . Appearance : dark amber ,low carbonation , creamy head on top. Medium-full bodied , raw hop character , sticky texture. Bitter but flat finish . Its hop character reminded me of raw garden greens . Average . HogTownHarry (3028), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada May 13, 2006 Updated: Mar 5, 2008Draught. At Volo. First, this has one of the coolest tap handles I’ve seen - a big plastic syringe filled with hops. Poured deep clear copper with a small white head. Aroma of mixed citrus, light resin and slightly funky hops, decent sweet juicy malt and a hint of leafiness. The hops in the taste seemed primarily piney, with some citrus - enough slightly toasty malt to remind you this isn’t just all about the hops. Average to slightly weak body, light astringency, has a longish finish - very very drinkable - I agree with jerc, just a little more malt takes this beyond a solid session patio beer. Lubiere (3011), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Sep 16, 2006 On tap at the Black Tomato, Ottawa, Gold orange ale with a thin white head.. Aroma of floral piney hops, with light berry notes. In mouth, a good biscuitty malt with classy floral hops. Medium bodied. A good IPA, but not as hoppy as the name suggest (but for Ontario standards, pretty decent).
