UPDATED: MAR 5, 2008 Draught. At Volo. First, this has one of the coolest tap handles I’ve seen - a big plastic syringe filled with hops. Poured deep clear copper with a small white head. Aroma of mixed citrus, light resin and slightly funky hops, decent sweet juicy malt and a hint of leafiness. The hops in the taste seemed primarily piney, with some citrus - enough slightly toasty malt to remind you this isn’t just all about the hops. Average to slightly weak body, light astringency, has a longish finish - very very drinkable - I agree with jerc, just a little more malt takes this beyond a solid session patio beer.

Draught @ Victory. Amber, not much head. Nutty malt, some perfume. Light quaffable mouthfeel. Dry. GREAT hops. Fruity, lingering aftertaste. Good IPA.

In short: A glass of citrusy hop juice. Simple but highly drinkable and highly refreshing
How: Tap at BeerBistro, Toronto
The look: Clear copper body topped by a very small off-white head.
In long: Hoppy nose as expected on the citrusy side of American hops. Taste is citrusy hops wall to wall with some pine-cone juice here and there. Inexpressive malts that provide an adequate body without contributing much to the flavour spectrum. Very juicy and refreshing beer. Smooth carbonation. Sharp bitterness of medium intensity. Couldn’t resist ordering it when I was that pump handle and was rather disappointed to get it in a pint that had to be orally ingested. Teaser.

Sweaty, catty, citrus grapefruit and orange suggestions to the nose. Clear copper coloured body is topped by a low tan head that recedes slowly to partial cover with excellent lacing. Caramel malts are quite pronounced but blend well with moderate bitterness. Plenty of lingering citrus and grassy hop character in the aftertaste. Very dry in texture with moderate carbonation. Sampled on tap at Caffe Volo during Grey Cup weekend 2007.

Draught at Volo. Pours a clear golden-orange with a small diminishing white head. Nice aroma of piney and resiny hops along with some citrus and caramel malt in the back. Great hoppy flavour, also piney and resiny, with some malt and fruit in the middle and a nice bitter finish -- very tasty. Light to medium body. This is a great session IPA, I hope to have many pints of this at Volo -- kudos to Durham!

(Rating #1334)

UPDATED: DEC 27, 2007 [224-20060304] Tap @ Volo (Toronto, ON). Hoppy lemon citrus aroma. Clear, light orange red body with some small centralized bubbles and a medium-lasting off-white creamy head. Taste has a very bitter hoppy bite with lemon and light astringency. Medium palate, fairly bitter after. Blending is OK but not fond of afterbite. (7/3/6/3/13) 3.2

[720B-20070928] Tap @ C’est What 2007 FOSB (Toronto, ON). Apricot wheat fruit aroma has funky yeast. Slightly hazy, orange amber body with a medium-lasting foamy white head. Alcoholic fruit wheat yeast flavour, some grapefruit hops. Medium body, very bitter. Nice bitterness, weird yeast qualities. (6/3/7/3/13) 3.2

Draft at Smokeless Joes in Toronto. Poured orange with an off white head. Sweet and hopppy aroma with orange and caramel. Flavor is like hop juice, citric and floral. Just enough malt is there to balance. Nice, very drinkable and thirst quenching.
