2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 gilvanblight (683) - Windsor, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 9, 2013
On draft at Beer Bistro. Reddish brown poor. Clear. A bit of head but not much. As expected it smells of hoops, and fresh cut grass. Mouth is very strong. It’s not that moisture sucking sour grapefruit, it’s something else I can’t place. Still not really a fan.d

Tasted this beer while on Beer Quest 2010 with the guys. This was beer number 78. Pour was dark amber. Aroma is aggressive with alcohol and hops. Flavor is a bit strange and a little too harsh.

UPDATED: AUG 19, 2009 On tap at the Victory Cafe - came a clear copper colour with a foamy head that was gone pretty quickly. Aroma very nice, citrus hoppiness with a good amount of malt, also I picked up a touch of yeast/bread. Flavour mainly hoppy, grapefruit and lemon, but with some earthiness or woodiness along with a refreshing bitterness in the finish that was very pleasant and balancing - many of the brewery’s beers have this similar taste and it is something that I really enjoy. Great character in this one, and a solid local IPA. Bottle it. Update - tried this again tonight and realized this is one of the best IPAs on offer in Ontario right now. If they bottled this, it would have a general listing in my fridge.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Slacks (615) - Bolton, Ontario, CANADA - SEP 26, 2006
Draught @ beerbistro: Another honest IPA from an Ontario brewer? Huzzah! Pours a great copper with a removable head. Aroma of hops, pine, and some citrus; excellent! The flavour is top notch with a burst of hops that makes way for a melange of flavours including roasted malts alongside the citrus and pine I found in the scent. Heavy on the hops, as I’d hoped, but quite well balanced with the more subtle supporting flavours. Loved it.

Good stuff! Pours clear copper with nice lingering head. Spruce, citrus (esp. grapefruit) from the hops dominate the aroma. Taste is same, supplemented by some background dry caramelly maltiness. Long dry bitter finish.

On tap at Smokeless Joe’s, Toronto. Deep gold, bordering on brown; zero head retention. Woody hop-forward aroma packs a good punch, seconded by accents of malt, caramel and berry fruit. Wonderful big-hop flavour provides full-on bitterness throughout, with a nice fruity blackberry infusion and smooth caramel ice cream palate. An excellent big-flavoured beer that has enough complexity to be more than a one-riff wonder.
