Minicask. Beautiful pale bitter, with a big fruity aroma. The America and Czech hop flavours are definitely in there, with citrus and pepperiness battling for dominance. Lovely chalky bite and very full-flavoured for a session strength beer. Was a favourite years ago and seems to be right back on form. Well carbonated and a fine tangy finish.

500 ml bottle conditioned, at the Durham Cathedral & Cloister Restaurant. ABV is 3.8%. Pale golden colour, moderate white head. Lovely aroma of fruity hops (citrus and tropical fruits). Distinctly hoppy flavour, notes of citrus and tropical fruits, good bitterness.

Cask at Craft Beer Co, London on 20th January 2012. Gold with thin white head and partial lacing. Delicately citric and herb aroma. Fruity and floral with pleasant lemony and soapy notes in-mouth, and a floral, fruity aftertaste. Light body and mouthfeel.

Durham’s most popular beer and rightly so. Almost a lager and very refreshing.

Cask (handpulled) at the Royal Oak, Ockbrook, Derby. Light going for a Durham brew, tasty too, balanced dryness that passes my Thursday Fish n Chip Beer Compatability test with flying colours.
