3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from the brewery, via allmyvinyl.
Appearance - it’s a massive gusher and I’ve just lost 30% to 40% of it. Then it settles to a nicely proportioned fawn head over a dark brown body.
Nose - well, it’s smelling great, as I try to dry the puddle on my dining room floor. Big raspberry or cherry note for sure, almost lebekuchen in fact! Searching deeper, and I know they’ve used a Belgian yeast here, but there’s a hint of an additional wild yeast in there.
Taste - more raspberries or even sweeter red fruit and a sweet biscuit thing too. Like those pink wafer biscuits that you get in the Christmas variety biscuit packs. Just a touch of chocolate from the malt, is lurking in the background too.
Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a balanced dry finish.
Overall - I’m kind of annoyed as I’ve lost some of my beer and as I really didn’t expect a gusher from a very well regarded brewery such as this.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Light opaque brown, frothy lasting greyish white head. Sugary sorbet raspberry and soft roast. Frilly raspberry, chewy jam and overdone toast. Dark malts adds a decadent buffer rather than this being quenching and smashable. However, really drops off towards the finish, dry and tangy.
