Our interpretation of an India Pale Ale. Not too bitter with extra aroma hops for interest.
Ingredients: Maris Otter and Crystal malts; Challenger, Target, Columbus, Golding and Saaz hops.

Bottle Conditioned. Pours a cloudy dark golden colour. Has a real fruity hoppy aroma. The flavour has plenty of fruit with a long lasting bitterness.

Bottle (in NZ), pours a crystal clear amber with a large pillowy white head. Caramal note on the nose, slightly medicinal, with peppery hops. Plenty of alcohol on the palate, along with those peppery hops. Hops dominate the malt in fact, with just a hint of toffee in the background. The finish is short, though well bittered.

Good sized lingering head, cloudy golden colour. Strong hoppy aromas, some malt and yeast. Strong hop flavours, with some caramel. Well hopped and very tasty pale ale.

Bottle, Ale Cellar, Darlington. Poured a slightly hazy golden colour with a decent rocky head. Fruity hop aroma with some yeast. Flavour had the same elements and was fragrant and sweetish. Hoppy bitter finish. Good balance. Very nice indeed.

UPDATED: JUL 11, 2010 0.5l Bottle. Pours amber, slightly murky with a good frothy white head. Aroma is herbal, resiny hops and a sweet caramel background. Taste is really quite good, similar herbal and resiny hops throughout, quite a sweet and malty background then a slightly citrus, strongly hopped finish with some alcohol. Really nice.

Hazy golden color; big frothy head, persistent. Dubious aroma, with paper, wet soil, country fields and grass, glue; then grassy hops. Medium body strength, but quite dry mouthfeel; it has a dry toffee flavor that along with the strong bitterness creates the effect of liquorice, mainly at the end. Strongly hopped, but not impressive.

Bottle. Nice head with good duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are malt and lots of hops. Good long bitter finish.

UPDATED: MAR 21, 2012 Bottle picked up at Londis, Goring, Oxon, had this 27-01-08 Pours light golden with some haze topped off with a big white bubbly head. Great hop profile on the nose. Tasted fruity and hoppy with a streaky honey sweetness, quite floral also. Tasted great, Durham seem to consistently knock out some cracking beers. A8 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 4.0 Had this again Bottle courtesy of Peter Fowler, Shoulder of Mutton, Wantage, Oxon consumed 21.03.12 Cheers Peter Pours amber with white head lightly floral nose. Bitterness is quite lovely, its certainly reigned in by a nice bed of sweet maltiness but it is still lovely, good fruity flavours with a raspy sweet citrus bite. I still note a light honeyness, it is a great beer maybe not quite the 4.0 but still great. A7 A4 T8 P8 Ov16 3.9

Clear blonde covered by a sticky white lasting cover, hugely effervescent looks. A fresh aroma that blends floral, grainy and herbal notes. A bit straightforward and despite the aroma’s apparent freshness, it does not keep up in mouth and this feels unusual for Durham. Perfumey, mineral, fruity palate with a firm bitterness in the finish – lilac and citrus fruits. Medium bodied and refreshing.
