Bottle Conditioned. Also available occasionally in the cask as Magnificat.
Our interpretation of an India Pale Ale. Not too bitter with extra aroma hops for interest.
Ingredients: Maris Otter and Crystal malts; Challenger, Target, Columbus, Golding and Saaz hops.

Bottled. Came out the bottle fighting, hazy caramel body with lively carbonation resulting in a large cloudy head that settled to wispy white. Yeasty aroma with emerging hoppiness. Short sweet maltiness overtaken by crunching hops and a rasping citric finish. Very drinkable for a 6.5% ale. Another first rate Durham ale.

Bottle. Cloudy dark golden appearence. Lively herbal-hoppy aroma and flavor, tea and fruit, solid long lasting bitterness with a mineral edge. Durham brewery is getting more and more respect from me.

Drunk at Cotteridge Wines very very good beer sampling party. Their version of an IPA is not really a version that I would bother with again. Beause itís not an IPA. Who says it is? Iím not sure. Does anyone? Not me. I donít. Do you?

danlo (1061) - Darlington, Durham, ENGLAND - FEB 2, 2013
500ml bottle from the Cheese & Wine Shop Darlington. Poured a clear golden orange amber colour, frothy fine white head and aroma of spicy citrus. Taste is malt caramel with pine and a citrusy note, through to a slightly woody light dry bitter finish. Medium bodied, high carbonation. Quite drinkable IPA.

Bottle, Waitrose Ponteland. Good clean copper with a fairly thick white head. Palate and nose are both well balanced, loads of citrus hops and well balanced malt. Lovely!

Bottled. Hazy amber, creamy and lacy head. Herbal/earthy, sweet floral and citrusy hop notes, yeasty esters. Dry biscuity Maris Otter, medium caramel. Dryish, crisp bitterness, mild but lingering bitter finish. Fresh, well balanced. Medium body.

Bottle. Hazy deep amber gold with a thick cream head. Initial nose is musty wheat with hints of orange peel and marmalade. Taste is orangey, with a hint of warming alcohol, sweet maltiness and a nice long warming finish.

Bottle from the brewery. Amber colour with some cream suds. An enjoyable IPA. Quite spicey with a nice bitterness and citrus notes. A solid beer rather than a spectacular one.

yalnikim (800) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - OCT 23, 2005
Tasted 23/10/2005. 500ml bottle-conditioned, from Regional Wines and Spirits, Wellington. Hazy, deep, yellow-gold with little visible carbonation and a large, white, head that collapses to a skinny film. Lovely little floaties prove this beerís claim of being an unfiltered real ale. Citrus and that herbacious, noble hop, aroma dominate the nose. Some background hints of crystal malt. Dry, dry, dry... little malt shows through in the flavour, itís all hops, aloe vera, pepper, lemon leaves. Reminiscent of my first homebrew lager - dry and very hoppy. Long, lingering, bitter finish. Well made but a bit over the top, for me, in the hop department. Iím sure would be appreciated by lovers of dry APAís or lager drinkers looking to try an ale.

Nice malty aroma. This is Durhamís interpretation of an IPA but there are lots of Northern English malts about it. It seems to me like a very strong and tasty bitter, itís very nice. On cask I reckon I could knoeck back plenty of these.Malty & nicely bitter. Good Stuff.
