Bottled. Hazy amber, creamy and lacy head. Herbal/earthy, sweet floral and citrusy hop notes, yeasty esters. Dry biscuity Maris Otter, medium caramel. Dryish, crisp bitterness, mild but lingering bitter finish. Fresh, well balanced. Medium body.

Bottle,11C. Almost clear orange with a white head. Aroma of orange blossoms, earth, caramel, lemon, alcohol. Slightly sweet with biscuit, caramel, peach, then quite earthy bitterness and a dry finish with some wood notes. A little too much carbonation, but perhaps that’s part of the Belgian influence on what remains a very English beer. Lots to like, but the alcohol sticks out too much.

AleTsar (1331) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAR 8, 2012
Bottle from Nina’s Mini Mart, Edinburgh
Orange amber...clear...frothy white head...dissipates to thin layer..some lacing
Aroma - light aroma of citrus orange zest...some orange...sweet light caramel malts.....slight alcohol tang on nose.
Taste - Orange citrus...orange zest..bit of peach...bitter orange marmalade..juicy sweet caramel malts...slight toffee...touch of toasted malt...background light bitter zesty hops...alcohol noticeable but reasonably masked....not a bitter IPA more emphasis on fruits..
Palate - medium carb from bottle...medium body...bit oily sticky texture. Finish as main flavour with increased zesty orange bitterness in the moderate linger....some warming alcohol
Overall - I would give it a good swirl to get rid of some of the carbonation. A nice quite orangey IPA with a dask of marmalade and a light bitter orange zest finish.

Very pale ale (almost orange) with a malted hopped aroma. The flavour is citirc and bitterly hopped with a malt edge. A very pleasant beer indeed.

Bottle. Leftover from the DC/VA/MD/WV/PA gathering. Had this the night of 11/21/04 in the hotel. Courtesy of chris_o. Clouded orange. Small white head. Nose is hoppy (citrus) and floral with milder sweet notes. Taste is suitably hoppy and releases more floral notes. Nice light maltiness in the background to balance this. Body is rather smooth but bitter. Finishes with more hops and citrus; light spiciness reveals itself as well.
