COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Very occasional. Also available bottle conditioned.
Temptation is a Russian stout; a style that was exported to imperial Russia in the 18th and 19th centuries. Massive body supports oily coffee and liquorice flavours. Malt sugars are balanced by traditional goldings, contains malted barley and wheat, hops, water and yeast.

bottle 500 ml souvenir from GBBF 2009 shared with JanneK after heavy Ola Dubh session as final night gap. Jet black beige head. Taste sweet dark roasted malts.Full body honest imperial stout without playing with fashionable whisky. Decent chocolate bit coffee dash of licorice. Modest hops are balance with heavy body. More please

Bottle. The guy in Ninas said it’d be flat but it wasn’t. Dark brown black with a fairly lively tan head. Roasted chocolate and coffee with prunes and burnt sugar. Very nice.

50 cl bottle, Sheffield, UK via The Dram Shop. Deep opaque black, massive head (result of overzealous pour). Quickly settles. Liquorice, coffee and some green veg aroma. Something sweet but resiny in there too. Thick, oily, sweet and bitter resin battle it out. Some alcohol on the finish, though not very little for the strength. Really nice.

Bottle at home. Pours opaque black with a surprisingly fine and audible fizzyness. No head retention at all as a result. Really nice chocolate raisin character on the nose, with an aniseed hint which becomes more apparent in the flavours, along with a sticky toffee and black treacle presence. The carbonation is a bit abrasive, however this is a lovely beer overall.

Bottle at home. Pitch black pour, thin layer of tan bubbles fades to absolutely nothing. Nose is big liquorice, dark chocolate, some cocoa. Front is rich chocolate, aniseed on the palate, more liquorice, sticky and viscous. Slight spicy hop linger. Bit too fizzy but the flavours are great.

50cl bottle @ home. Pitch black, opaque colored beer with a big, mostly diminishing light brown head. Smell roasted malts, caramel, mocca, coffee and slightly alcohol. Taste is a mix of the same, also with some hops and very well balanced. Medium carbonation, full body. Very nice beer indeed.

Black beer with greyish brown head that disappears quite fast. Smooth beer, almost a bit oily texture, relatively low carbo, but in this beer that’s just fine. Taste is some roasted malts, though less than in most imperial stouts, there’s some chocolate, coffee. It’s all pretty sweet and soft.

Deep black beer with a small head. Initial tastes were quite overwhelmingly comprised of mostly liquorise, with a more roasted dry finish. Enjoyable, but not necessarily a beer I see becoming a regular drink.

Bottle: Small tan ish head, changes quick into a lacing on top of a lovely lack beer. Smells like an irish stout or something like a liquorice stout. Taste roasted malts, some sweets like caramel, (roasted herbs) low to medium bitter, spicy and light liquorice. Medium bitter roasted malty aftertaste. Low carbo, silky yet spicy mouthfeel, full body and a light creamy texture. Different than the usual impy though still tasty.

Bottle. Pitch black oily body with small tan head. Very sweet and caramel-y aroma. Almost liquor-like. Extremely smooth and velvet mouthfeel. Taste is warming and alcoholic, soft moccha, spicy, slightly roasted malts. Very nice, but definitely heavy on the alcohol.
