COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Very occasional. Also available bottle conditioned.
Temptation is a Russian stout; a style that was exported to imperial Russia in the 18th and 19th centuries. Massive body supports oily coffee and liquorice flavours. Malt sugars are balanced by traditional goldings, contains malted barley and wheat, hops, water and yeast.

This stuff looks like crude oil, black, inky, more than opaque it sits in the glass like a liquid black hole. The huge body it a riot of sweet malt flavours, caramel, toffee, chocolate all playing against a noticeable coffee note and the spiciness of the hops. Perfection.

Buona.

500ml bottle from Cheese & Wine shop, Darlington. Black-brown in colour, foam tan head and aroma of roasted malt, dark fruits, coffee & chocolate. Taste is sweet malty, molasses, liquorice, chocolate powder, dark fruity notes, coffee and earthy boozy bitterness. Oily mouthfeel, full bodied, soft carbonation, lingering dry sweet malty grassy roast bitter finish. Very drinkable.

At cellar temperature and into a snifter. Black as used engine oil and as viscous as such when swirled around the glass. Thinning tan pad atop gives way and there is little evidence of life. Complex nose; rusty and dusty with hints of kelp, Balsamic glaze, damp swarf, vinous, plummy notes, driftwood and peppery spice, and a hit of alcohol that awakens the olfactories. Quite plump, sweet and fruity on the palate. Massive wine-like depth; vinous, spicy and warming, drawing at the saliva glands. Prickly carbonation needs to be shaken off where a smooth, big body presides. Rich, plummy fruit meets umami Balsamic and Bovril notes, mineral-like and meaty. Dark chocolate underneath as is some very earthy, top-soil notes. Long, long linger of everything in a generous meld. This is a great Winter warmer. Slow-sipping at its best. A few bottles for the cellar I think. Loved it!! (50cL, BBE 03/19, Gyle 2490, The Liquor Shed, Jandakot)

Bottled. 5cl sample. The aroma has coffee roast malts mainly. Black coloured beer with a thin, off-white lace. The taste is sweet, has molasses, honey, some fruitiness, little roasty edge. But roast is more present in aroma.
