COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
White Stout is the ultimate beer in our "White Range". While the word "stout" has come to mean a dark beer, the original meaning was strong and true. Before the porter brewers commandeered the word to mean a stout, or strong, porter it referred to any strong beer. We have rehabilitated and improved the genre. White Stout is a very pale, full bodied, strong beer. American columbus hops are used throughout to give massive floral and resinous character. At a strength of 7.2% this is a true stout. Indeed, few modern stouts of any colour are true to the word for strong.

Bottle from Rehills Newcastle. Pours dark golden colour, foamy off white head. Strong flavours, fruits, malt. Deceptively drinkable for something so rich in flavour and alcohol

Appearance: Clear golden amber with 2 finger thick white head. Aroma: Bread, raisin, liquorice, fruity. Light mango note. Taste: Medium sourness and bitterness, low sweetness and a slight saltiness and pepperiness. Palate: Thick coarse texture, light body, average carbonation, dry peppery, bitter, fruity finish. Aftertaste is quite salty, a bit too much. Comments: Tasty and glass lace.

It is a strong beer and you can taste the strength You wouldn’t want to drink it all night.

Brandman (2083) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JAN 22, 2014
Clear golden body white head. Aroma has resiny hops, grainy bready malt, quite mellow fruitiness. Flavour is bit toasted or roasted but just lightly. Also has quite intense and pungent bitterness. Some alcohol feeling, not flavour. Harsh and dry aftertaste. Yeast somes through hard way. Bit unpleasant. This is not bad, more like imperial golden ale than any other. The bitterness is remarkable high.

Wow. What a revelation! A white stout? It only has hints of stout and looks nothing like a traditional stout being golden and extremely lively. Very tasty but a bit too sharp.

Pours a deep golden colour with nice tight head and gentle carbonation. Smells strong sweet, honey and fruity and a bit winey almost. Taste is malty sweet thick with a long lingering bitterness that creeps up on you and keeps going. Full bodied and rich this is one to be savoured and appreciated. Tremendous

Bottle: Deep golden, hazy, clearly visible carbonation. Big and stable white head, Citric hoppy traces with hoppy taste staying present very long in the mouth. Good beer but disappointing. I expected a broader band of taste.

Grumbo (606) - Suffolk, ENGLAND - NOV 22, 2013
Bottle drank during a visit to Durham. Pours a hazy gold colour, with a just off white head. Hoppy, floral aroma with hint of grapefruit, and nice level of bitterness to finish.

Bottle at Pibar, Lausanne
Hazy blond color with generous head. Mild aroma of malt and English yeast. Blond ale, smooth, with a strange ashy feeling; strong yeasty presence and strong hard bitterness.
Not a good idea.
