COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
White Stout is the ultimate beer in our "White Range". While the word "stout" has come to mean a dark beer, the original meaning was strong and true. Before the porter brewers commandeered the word to mean a stout, or strong, porter it referred to any strong beer. We have rehabilitated and improved the genre. White Stout is a very pale, full bodied, strong beer. American columbus hops are used throughout to give massive floral and resinous character. At a strength of 7.2% this is a true stout. Indeed, few modern stouts of any colour are true to the word for strong.

Cask conditioned. Pours a light golden brown, wasn’t sure what to expect but found the nose mainly alcohol. Quite interesting really, a white stout, but nothing here to make me want to get it again. Alcohol, bitter, not unpleasant, not much going on though.

500ml bottle - was intrigued with the term "pale stout", but this is very much like an IPA with its citrus heavy hops in the nose and the taste, the body though comes across nice and oily like a deep stout. Nice lasting finish by the way. Tidy.

Clear bright yellow with average lingering head. Citrus, orange, grapefruit, dough aromas, with some floral/tropical bits. Some earthy yeast. Taste runs the spectrum from a brisk, bitter opening before it warms up a bit to a rich, complex sweetness, bread, honey. Bitter, balanced finish. Alcohol rears its head a little too much. Like an amped up golden ale.

Bottle. Cloudy lemony yellow with a generous white head that collapses to chunky flotsam and leaves messy lace. Aroma is white grapefruit, guava, and conifer that leans toward juniper. Fresh white grapefruit, guava, gooseberries (lots of gooseberries actually), herbal and woody accents. Nice malt structure here too. Intensely bitter finish. It is idiotic to call this a white stout when it is most evocative of a Belgian style IPA. A fantastic beer nonetheless.

Bottle courtesy of ACD, thanks Alex! Pours a hazy topaz with foamy cream head. Spicy green aroma, plenty of green peppercorn in there, some adjunct malt as well. Clean maltiness with fairly assertive green bitterness throughout. Some interesting floral notes in the mix. Really intriguing and delicious, wish I had more of this stuff!

Bottle: Pale golden color, foamy head. Hoppy nose, notes of citrus, herbs, grapefruit. Flavor is light malt, light sweet, mainly hoppy. Mainly citrus notes, grapefruit, citrus peel and hints of herbs. Nice, but why the hell white stout?

Bottle from malting pot. Clear gold body w puffy head. Nose is malty, wheat with hops. Taste is sweet, bitter and citrus gets spicier and warmer in the finish. Then bitter again. Enjoyable.

Tasted from the bottle, bought @Dram shop, Sheffield, on 13/11/2012. Pours of slightly hazy golden color with a proper head. Aroma is big, having lots of caramel and lollipops. Taste is quite sweet upfront, lollipops&caramel again and unpleasantly tart in the end. The beer was quite warm and thus had a strong alcohol tone. Aftertaste is unfortunately awful, a bit sweet upfront, then tart with no bitterness. Not recommended. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle 50 cl. Slightly hazy golden in color with a whitish head. Floral, parfume, dishwasher, perhaps some fruits in aroma. Floral and slightly grassy bitter hops in taste. Somewhat fruity as well in aftertaste. A bit harsh. Gets a bit better as it warms up and more flavors appears.

Odd but not half bad...big biscuity and toasty malts with a light roast. The nose is lightly hopped, malted with light grainy and biscuity malts, a bit of spice. Really unusual English strong ale...light a barley wine without the toffee and roast. Light bitterness on the finish. Overall a really good unusual brew.
