White Stout is the ultimate beer in our "White Range". While the word "stout" has come to mean a dark beer, the original meaning was strong and true. Before the porter brewers commandeered the word to mean a stout, or strong, porter it referred to any strong beer. We have rehabilitated and improved the genre. White Stout is a very pale, full bodied, strong beer. American columbus hops are used throughout to give massive floral and resinous character. At a strength of 7.2% this is a true stout. Indeed, few modern stouts of any colour are true to the word for strong.

Bottle at home form Filrd, cheers! Pours pale honey blonde with sweet malt aroma with redcurrants. Throws up a fluffy cream head but soon dissipates. Quite full bodied with medium carbonation, sweet custard malt and quite high residual sugar. Fair amount of dry bitterness in finish but the high sweetness is just a bit off-putting.

Aroma: fruity, some grain malts, citrus. Appearance: clear gold, large, frothy, white head. Taste: light sweet. Palate: fruity sweetness making room for some bitters quickly, citrus and grapefruit. Overall: quite a nice Strong Ale, nicely balanced. Pint at GBBF 2015, Kensington Olympia.

Cask at GBBF 2015. It pours a clear gold with a fine white head of foam. The nose is cocoa & coffee with a mild stout flavor. Alright.

Bottle. Golden amber with an inch of white head. Aroma of honey, dough, pine, vague citrus, spices. Creamy getting towards syrupy, lovely lowish carbonation. Sweet honeyed dough, strong pine and herbal notes, some lemon. Bitter and pithy at the end with an overtly boozy note that’s a little excessive.

500ml bottle. Clear golden colour with average to huge, frothy, fairly lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Floral and fruity, hoppy aroma, notes of gooseberry, pear, strawberry, a spicy touch of celery. Taste is minimally sweet pale malty, fruity hoppy overtones, mild bitterness, a floral touch; strong, full body. OK.

Bottle from Beer Hawk. I quite like this style of beer so I’m probably biased. There are some fairly idiotic review comments here, or maybe the brewery expected the beer geeks to be a bit geekier than they actually are! Rich, slightly (quite!) boozy, nice pale ale malt character, then quite a big hop bitterness. Definite C hop character, maybe a tad incongruous? Or maybe more refreshing? I quite enjoyed this!

Hazy light copper, decent off-white head. Aroma is light and yeasty. Flavours of pine, citrus, caramel, a little tropical fruit. Unsurprisingly boozy. Decent.

Bottled, 500ml from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Dirty blonde with off white head. There is a big, fruity, alcohol hit early on, apricot and plummy notes, some malty sweetness, some caramel, boiled sugar notes. Quite a hefty beer but reasonable.
