2.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
23rd January 2012
On tap at Craft. Slightly hazy gold beer, little white head. Smooth semi dry palate with very mild carbonation. A little pale malt and a trace of citrus. Alcohol dryness is the dominant characteristic. Tasted more alcohol in this than the 15.0% BrewDog Jura earlier in the evening! Didn’t want to finish it and I left more than half of it.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle at Pibar, Lausanne
Hazy blond color with generous head. Mild aroma of malt and English yeast. Blond ale, smooth, with a strange ashy feeling; strong yeasty presence and strong hard bitterness.
Not a good idea.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Bottle Shop at Canterbury. Hazy pale gold thick white head. Light hoppy aroma. I mean its clearly not a stout. It’s quite heavy on the alcohol. Hoppy finish. More like an IPA to be honest. As an IPA it’s fine. REasonobly hoppy. A bit like Phoenix White Monk but with more alcohol. Yes it’s a bit hot. Durham normally cover up the alcohol a bit more. But this is a good and different beer. Decent

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled 500ml @Beer Hunters
Slightly hazy golden color, small white head, some lace. Flowery, fruity-yeasty aroma. Light to medium-bodied. Fruity, "flowery" hoppyness, long lingering bitterness. Nice. Ok malt profile. I am pretty sure that beer 200 years ago didn’t taste anything like this.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig, 2012, London. Pours clear gold with a big, virginal white foam head. Doughy malt nose. Boozy flavor, some toasted white bread, bitter leaves, grass. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Light warmth at the end with some grass, alcohol sugars, white bread. Doesn’t really come together.

UPDATED: APR 21, 2014 500ml bottle (gallows bird, espoo)
Slightly hazy Amber, huge self-supporting head. Slightly sticky malty aroma, plenty of grassy and piney hops. I don’t like the name, and the aroma is not so promising, but taste wise this is very nice. A very nice twist on normal strong ale. Full body, but only in an English way. Pleasant carbonation too, doesn’t feel heavy or strong. Herbal bitterness in great balance with the sweetish medium to lightly roasted malts, quite bready even. Whoops, that’s a pint gone.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle: Deep golden, hazy, visible carbonation causing a big and stable rocky white head, sweetish and tart aromas of dried fruits, some grains underneath, citric hoppy traces plus alcohol underneath; robust bitter-sweet flavour, full bodied, pretty tart; lingering, but harsh and alcoholic grainy-bitter finish. Still good, but all in all disappointing…
