4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 DuffMan (5187) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 22, 2013
Bottle. Cloudy lemony yellow with a generous white head that collapses to chunky flotsam and leaves messy lace. Aroma is white grapefruit, guava, and conifer that leans toward juniper. Fresh white grapefruit, guava, gooseberries (lots of gooseberries actually), herbal and woody accents. Nice malt structure here too. Intensely bitter finish. It is idiotic to call this a white stout when it is most evocative of a Belgian style IPA. A fantastic beer nonetheless.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 downender (5187) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - JUL 6, 2012
Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars, Bristol 4/7/2012. Deep gold in colour with a thin white head. Sweet, summer fruit aroma with a tropical kick. Fairly heavy and syrupy in the mouth, with plenty more fruit, some caramel and a dry finish. Fine.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 altonbrownd (4208) - Brussels, BELGIUM - DEC 9, 2012
Bottle from malting pot. Clear gold body w puffy head. Nose is malty, wheat with hops. Taste is sweet, bitter and citrus gets spicier and warmer in the finish. Then bitter again. Enjoyable.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 BoBoChamp (4176) - Gent, BELGIUM - SEP 1, 2012

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Beer3000 (3718) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - JAN 30, 2013
500 ml bottle @ Delirium, Brussel. Clear, deep golden body with a moderate sized off-white head. Aroma has malt, bread and grassy hops. Flavor is smooth malty, biscuit, toast, light fruity and medium bitterness. Medium body with sweet and bitter aftertaste. Decent, but I don’t really find anything close to a stout here. Like a strong golden British ale with good bitterness.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 mjs (3609) - Helsinki, FINLAND - SEP 29, 2012
(Bottle, 0.5 l, at Pikkulintu, 20120929) The beer poured golden and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had hops, malts and cowhouse. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were grass, hops, sweetness, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy and bitter. The aroma was quite confusing at the beginning but the cowhouse smell disappeared quite quickly. The taste was surprisingly dry and hoppy. Not bad.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 reebtogi (3259) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 7, 2012
500ml bottle pours golden in color with a 2 and a half finger white head that retains well and eventually leaves some spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma is flowery and earthy with some cereal grains. Taste is an earthy hop bitterness with a grainy malty sweetness. Light to medium bodied with a generous amount of carbonation leaving a nice sensation on the palate. A nicely balanced and tasty English strong ale that is recommended to try, but is certainly not a stout in the current world of beers.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Scopey (3239) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 9, 2012
Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig, 2012. It pours straw yellow, with a thin white head. The nose is sugary sweetness, tinned peach, hay and straw. The taste is tinned peach, pear, apple, alcohol and sherbet, with a lightly bitter finish. Light-medium body and fine, spritzy carbonation. Not my sort of thing at all.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Benjii (3049) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JAN 16, 2012
On cask at Cloisters. Pours a blonde colour with a thick white head. Reminds me more of a barley wine. Aroma of oatmeal, alcohol and caramel. Similar flavours with some roasty malt, apple seed and caramel. Quite bitter and dry with mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel. Tasty!
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Geiserich (2559) - Vienna, AUSTRIA - DEC 29, 2012
Bottle: Pale golden color, foamy head. Hoppy nose, notes of citrus, herbs, grapefruit. Flavor is light malt, light sweet, mainly hoppy. Mainly citrus notes, grapefruit, citrus peel and hints of herbs. Nice, but why the hell white stout?
