3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled, 500ml from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Dirty blonde with off white head. There is a big, fruity, alcohol hit early on, apricot and plummy notes, some malty sweetness, some caramel, boiled sugar notes. Quite a hefty beer but reasonable.

UPDATED: APR 21, 2014 500ml bottle (gallows bird, espoo)
Slightly hazy Amber, huge self-supporting head. Slightly sticky malty aroma, plenty of grassy and piney hops. I don’t like the name, and the aroma is not so promising, but taste wise this is very nice. A very nice twist on normal strong ale. Full body, but only in an English way. Pleasant carbonation too, doesn’t feel heavy or strong. Herbal bitterness in great balance with the sweetish medium to lightly roasted malts, quite bready even. Whoops, that’s a pint gone.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
from Mondial de la Bière 2013, Mulhouse - pours a hazy dark blond beer under a persistent white foam leaving a beautiful lacework; aroma of honey and flowery hops; full-bodied, tasty and with a fair yet subtle carbonation, gently bitter, earthy and spicy hoppy finish with light fruity and honey reminiscence

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle: Deep golden, hazy, visible carbonation causing a big and stable rocky white head, sweetish and tart aromas of dried fruits, some grains underneath, citric hoppy traces plus alcohol underneath; robust bitter-sweet flavour, full bodied, pretty tart; lingering, but harsh and alcoholic grainy-bitter finish. Still good, but all in all disappointing…

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig, 2012. It pours straw yellow, with a thin white head. The nose is sugary sweetness, tinned peach, hay and straw. The taste is tinned peach, pear, apple, alcohol and sherbet, with a lightly bitter finish. Light-medium body and fine, spritzy carbonation. Not my sort of thing at all.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Golden with a large off white foam. Aromas are white wine and gooseberry with lime. Kiwi with lemon and dusty yeast. Biscuit base malts with melon and spicy hops. Flavours are lemon and lime with dry biscuit malts. Floral with gooseberry and more hints of lime. Dry and fruity to finish with peppery alcohol. Decent but why claim it is a ’stout’?

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
(bottle) Hazy, golden colour with a big and blond foamy head. Yeast-spicy and herbal, slightly grassy hoppy aroma with delicately fruity spots, hints of iodine and a strawy malty touch. Bitter flavour, medium to full bodied with a modest carbonation. Delicately bready malty base with drying herbal hops from the beginning, lingering into the bitter and discreetly sweet malty finish with a dangerously muted alcoholic strength. Nice try as a hoppy & pale strong Ale, but the term “Stout” is a bit irritating. 26.IX.13

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from ’Jacks’ Westholme Stores, Goring-on-Thames, Oxon, 19.04.12 consumed at home Fri 20.04.12 Pours light gold with lovely white head. I’m not entirely sure what a white stout is all about but regardless this is a tasty beer. Hoppier than I was expecting, in fact really quite hoppy, resin hoppiness that sits at the back of the mouth and one that only just this stays this side of being unpleasant. Some sweetness is also apparent, I like this beer but seems more IPA than Stout. A6 A4 T8 P4 Ov14 3.7

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Cloudy lemony yellow with a generous white head that collapses to chunky flotsam and leaves messy lace. Aroma is white grapefruit, guava, and conifer that leans toward juniper. Fresh white grapefruit, guava, gooseberries (lots of gooseberries actually), herbal and woody accents. Nice malt structure here too. Intensely bitter finish. It is idiotic to call this a white stout when it is most evocative of a Belgian style IPA. A fantastic beer nonetheless.
