50cl bottle from Beer City, BB 04/2014.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 dogbomb (278) - ENGLAND - MAY 19, 2012
Bottle. Pours a hazy amber with a large white bubbly head which dissipates. Looks surprisingly like a lager. Nose is malty and vinous. Flavour is more vine fruits, a touch of alcohol and white wine. Drinks really well. Finishes with a pleasant bitter buzz.

Bottle from ’Jacks’ Westholme Stores, Goring-on-Thames, Oxon, 19.04.12 consumed at home Fri 20.04.12 Pours light gold with lovely white head. I’m not entirely sure what a white stout is all about but regardless this is a tasty beer. Hoppier than I was expecting, in fact really quite hoppy, resin hoppiness that sits at the back of the mouth and one that only just this stays this side of being unpleasant. Some sweetness is also apparent, I like this beer but seems more IPA than Stout. A6 A4 T8 P4 Ov14 3.7

500ml bottle from Nina’s Mini Market, Edinburgh (25 Mar 12) - solid gold with fast diminishing white head, citrus hop aroma, citrus flavour, spicy with a dry, bitter finish, high carbonation
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 leaparsons (6324) - Leicester, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - APR 7, 2012
Bottle. Golden with a large off white foam. Aromas are white wine and gooseberry with lime. Kiwi with lemon and dusty yeast. Biscuit base malts with melon and spicy hops. Flavours are lemon and lime with dry biscuit malts. Floral with gooseberry and more hints of lime. Dry and fruity to finish with peppery alcohol. Decent but why claim it is a ’stout’?

Something not quite right here but I can't figure it out. full bodied yes and pale but something weird in the hop character - not oomph ing it for me

200th Rating! 500ml bottle bought from Fenwicks in Newcastle, cooled inthe fridge for 90 mins before opening. Poured into a large tulip.Hazy golden body with a thick, rocky white head. Honey and farmyard aroma. First impression is of a barley wine, then a Belgian strong ale, then about 1/3 of the way through, the "stout" starts to make sense. The honey persists from the aroma, tempered with a custard cream smoothness and a hint of red licquorice. It’s full-bodied, thick in the best sense of the word and ultimately complex so that you keep sipping, because each mouthfeel reveals a new facet.Obviously, the ABV is noticeable, but thankfully does not overpower the experience; however, I wouldn’t want to drink a lot of it, or to drink it too regularly, but I feel like a proper connisseur having bought and sampled this fine and special beer for my 200th rating.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 RichardW (929) - Carlisle, Cumbria, ENGLAND - MAR 30, 2012
Bottle, Coppers, Ncl. Pours a lovely glinting orange colour. This is a stranger concept than Black IPA, I reckon. Rich, roast malt flavour that is warming and has a big jamminess and ripe fruit. Lively palate, long finish, hints of cherry sourness late on. A big beer that needs time to appreciate and savour.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 zacgillbanks (202) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - MAR 2, 2012
Bottle from Fenwick in Newcastle. Pours hazy golden with a large foamy head. It has a spicy fruity hoppy flavour with a bitter warming finish. This stupidy named beer is a a barley wine / IPA not a stout in the modern sense of the style. Superb beer as normal from the Durham brewery.

not for me, thanks.
BOOZE! white BOOZE. totally overpowering.
it looks lovely in the glass. golden sun dappled straw with a lovely pillowy head. pretty much all flavours were wiped out by the alcohol. Maybe a touch of orange and apple flavouring but not much.
