This originated in the region bordering the Baltic Sea and is a take off of English porters. Originally an ale, brewers in the region switched over to Lager yeast making this big, dark beer extremely smooth and chocolatey. It lacks the roast bitterness of a stout, but has layers of chocolate, coffee, caramel, perhaps toffee, and a wine–like finish. Should finish at 9.3%, Black color with hints of ruby when held to the light.

On tap at Dust Bowl - This was THE best beer out of the tap without a doubt. First, just a stunning beer to look at with a deep black body with a frothy light tan head. Aroma abounds with chocolate, light molasses, a touch of smoke, and dark fruits. The flavors meld really, really well together and with the combination of the great flavors and a perfect mouthfeel...this is really one fantastic beer. Really reminded me of the Duck-Rabbit Baltic Porter in many ways.

"Well done brew...aroma and flavor of dark chocolate, some cherry-like fruitiness and good old fashioned roasted malt. Probably their most enjoyable brew, and they were almost all up to par."

On tap. Pours with a not quite black hued body with a medium sized tan-brown head. Aromas are of leather, brown sugar, chocolate, smoke, light dark fruit. Low hops, mostly clean. Flavors are of dark fruits, chocolate, earthy, minerally, prominent smoke presence, dry leathery notes. Pretty smooth for 9.3%. Earthy, rich, nutty and slightly warming. Medium bodied, somewhat dry. Thinner than expected. Warming, lower but yet somewhat sharp carbonation.
