On draft at Tap 25. It pours black with a tan head. The aroma has dark cocoa, coffee and a little toasted marshmallow. The flavor is smoky with caramel, burnt marshmallow, coffee and cocoa. Very full bodied with a burnt, smoky finish. Great stuff.

On tap -
All the beers I had on St. Patrick’s Day here were really nice, and this was one of them. Their regular stout on nitro was outta-sight great, so was their Baltic porter, so this had to deliver and it did. A nice coffee aroma, with just a bit of dark chocolate, dark fruit and Tootsie Rolls. Flavor smacks you squarely in the jaw with a rich, roasty bitterness that doesn’t let up. Attenuated very nicely, with just enough sweetness left behind to really amplify the coffee aspect of the beer. I would have liked a little more chocolate in the flavor, with perhaps just a bit more sweetness, but then..I do love my impy’s to be on the sweeter side of things, and I know he wasn’t making this beer based on my specs. Just a really, really nice impy stout, and one I’ll definitely get again and again.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
A decent imperial stout, not the best, not the worst. Pours a deep lack with a creamy tan head. Smells of coffee and cream. Taste is creamy upfront, with a quite better finish, bitter chocolate and hops, maybe a bit too much. Had on tap at Beer Revolution.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A big, thick tar-like russian imperial. too much for one in our party, even though 11-13% seems to be the norm and this was "only" 9.4. Chocolate, licorice, tar, adequate bitterness all in one big package. In smallish amounts, I really dug it.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours two and half fingers of tan head on a black body. It looks amazing.
The aroma is molasses, brown sugar and a touch of burnt malt.
The taste is heavy on the burnt malt, some roasted malt, wood and molasses. Great profile and balance.
The texture is heavier with moderate carbonation.
It nails the style and tastes great.

Bottle from Capitol Beer & Tap Room. Pours near black with a thick tan head and a treacle aroma. There is a hearty dark molasses and burnt chocolate flavor with a hint of coffee and a dry finish. Very tasty.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from the bomber I found at nugget west sac. The aroma is nice and chocolatey. Flavour is also chocolate, some roast but I feel like the hop bitterness it coming through nicely. This is really a nice imperial stout for this cool evening.
