COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask, Special;
An outrageously aromatic and beautifully balanced blonde ale, Dutch Wink is brewed using a holy trio of hops; Bobek from Slovenia, the super-citrusy Riwaka from New Zealand and the great British hop that is Golding. A firm backbone of malted barley comes courtesy of Pale Malt & Vienna. There’s lemongrass, lychee and brown sugar-dusted grapefruit on the palate while the finish is clean, crisp and citrusy. In short, it’s the best beer in the world*. According to Ben and Tom, Dutch Wink is an ingenious English interpretation of the clean and crisp Kolsch beers they drank whilst visiting Cologne. “The Dutch connection comes from the fact that Holland is in-between England and Germany,” said Ben. “Do you see what we’ve done there?”

Cask conditioned handpump Pump House Brighton. An orange headless beer. There is a reasonable citrus fruity aroma which leads to orangey fruits in the mouth Hoppy bitterness in a quite good beer. HOWEVER riwaka in a Kólsch? Come on Ben and Tom, get a grip; it’s not even close.

Cask conditioned at The Eagle & Child, Oxford. Gold with white head. Sharp and distinctive beer there is absolutely no balance in it at all. There are plenty of rough edges of lemon skin, green unripe grape and green banana. It is teeth coatingly tart. I do like well hopped beers but this was not one to enjoy.
