3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Kinz (2694) - Glen Allen, USA - MAR 14, 2010
UPDATED: AUG 11, 2011 Very happy to get to try this. Pale gold, head not as extravagent as traditional Duvel. Aroma is lightly crisp malts and a lot of hay and grass hops. Flavor matches, with Belgian yeast subdued by the upfront hop flavors. Amazing how different this is from regular Duvel, with this bordering on being like a Belgian IPA in a sense. Good stuff, but I think I prefer the classic. Sampled again at Mekong. Notes are the same, always a bit surprised at how light the body is on this and how the hops really come through. A Duvel for summer.

Draft at Craftsman in Middleton. Pours hazy gold with huge soapy head that doesn’t go anywhere. Nose is fresh hay, summer grass, artisanal lemon candy. Soft carbonation, pleasant earthiness. Really does taste and smell like a fresh field. So, so smooth.

Bottle sample at a tasting at our place. Thanks beerandbeyond. Pours pale golden, almost clear, fizzy, thin white film. Sweet, somewhat hempy aroma, flowery as well. Mild bitterness and a hint of sour. Light body, lovely carbonation, sweet finish.
3.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 30, 2012
Aug 2009: Sampled and reviewed in an ’All-Bar-One’ while in Birmingham. For those that don’t know, All-Bar-One is a chain of up market wine-lager bars that are dotted around britians major cities.
The Draught Green Duvel came in its own badged tulip shaped glass and it looked fine apart from no head. What little head there was after the pour had turned into a thin wisp by the time the beer was brought to me, so no huge head on this version at all. The body was a clear, light golden colour, not as effervescent or aromatic as the normal Duvel, or even the bottled Green Duvel, which I first tried in the tasting area at the back of what is now BeerMania in Brussels.
Taken on its own merits, it was a pleasant blonde/pale drink of beer, but knowing its big brother so well I was expecting a little more in the body and mouthfeel. Would I have another? Yes.

Tap. This one reminds me of a barnyard or something- hay, earth, tobacco(?), maybe a little citrus. Light golden with a voluminous foamy head and decent lacing. Tastes sweet and grassy and spicy. Dry light finish with a bit of a sweet and spice aftertaste.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 bigabe (194) - California, USA - MAR 26, 2012
One of the most crisp, refreshing brews I have ever had. Nice hop bite at the front, Belgian esters, then a biscuity note or two and a dry, somewhat hoppy finish. Excellent. I think I like it better than regular Duvel.

Draft at Jacs. Served in official glass. Filtered looking yellow, maybe some faint green in there. Big steady off-white head. Grassy, sweet, mellow aroma. Medium bodied despite the relatively big ABV. The hops are grassy, lemony, dry. Rather straightforward, with a pleasant grassy, grainy feel balanced by the hops. Lemongrass, some lime. A unique creature, quite drinkable. Smooth, watery, golden malt tones. Quite clean, with an odd hop character.
