A golden ale with a thick lacing white head. A sweet flowery aroma with light curacao, coriander, very pleasant. In mouth, a softer version of Duvel, with light sweet caramel, some orange rinds, and light hopping. Medium bodied. Bottle from Drankencentrale de Hopduvel, 0.61 euro. Tasted Nov. 2006.

2 X 25 cl bottles. Very, very pale golden beer. Aroma is very herbal showing loads of fresh pilsner malt, a touch of sulfurous character in the nose. The spice picks up a bit as the beer warms up, but it’s nowhere near as spicy as it’s bigger brother. Softly perfumey. It’s well-integrated, and pretty tasty, but I’d never take this over a Duvel. A bit too herbal and malt dominated, in contrast to the yeasty spice that I prefer.

Clear lemony-golden beer; huge white head, extremely tenacious; Grainy aroma, with grassy hops and white candi sugar nose. Very dry impression. Cookies, alcohol and rather a lot of sweetness dominate the taste. Finish is very dry and roasted. Some herbal freshness all the same. Well-bodied, but rather dry, thinner texture. Alcoholburn. Even the ’green’ one is one powerfull b*st*rd of a beer. It’s - not surprisingly - way much sweeter than the ’red’.

25cL bottle, BB 08/07, dragged back from Belgium! Poured clear medium golden with about 1" of creamy white head. The aroma picked up spicy lemon zest, bready notes, and banana-ey yeast.. I really dug it! Brighter lemony tartness tingles the tip of the tongue, and sticks with the drink the whole way down.. bready pils-ish malts at the core along with dusy banana and peppery yeast.. tangy lemon and peppery finish. Medium-bodied, spicy, and refreshing on the palate.. decent transitions, and a bit tacky right at the finish. This was really a solid brew!

Bottle brought back from Antwerp Oct 06. Seems to pour a little paler in colour than it’s more easily accesible stablemate, and poured a plae golden. Taste a little crisper and cleaner than the other Duvel, malty fruity and some spice very tasty and acohol well disguised.

I have some questions over wither or not this beer had gone off, it didnt seem like it was ment to taste this way in my opinion, therfore it get a reasonably rubbish rating. Aroma is yeasty metalic ham. Taste is yeast goign to aluminim filings with alcohol, this isnt actually as bad as it may sound, however a 5 may be generous. I was really looking forward to this, because you cannot get it in britian even online, and i have to drink duvel to keep me off chimay blue and rochefort these days, because of the lack of good beers in this country, belgiun bottled-wise anyway, and i have a soft spot of duvel because of this. Browney points for cool bottle.
