2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 kerolasa (377) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - SEP 29, 2011
Horribly boring looking beer; lager color no head e.g. just like any over commercial super market beer. Even smell reminds them. But taste is slightly better. There is a little bit lagery style tin can and wateriness but I also find hops and tiny bit sweetness. Aroma is fresh and green. The carbonation is sharp and texture is quite thin. Finish could be longer. Overall too super market lager to my taste.

2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 boboski (1095) - Alabama, USA - NOV 15, 2007
Pours a crystalline light gold with a lightly lacing small white head. Boring to a fault. The first thing I noticed nosing this was that there was hardly any detectable alcohol at all, a pleasant surprise. Then some less pleasant facets set in: a lemon/lime note is bold and too soda-related. Pilsner malt and mineralic qualites comprise the remainder of this simplistic beer. Is there a point to offering filtered Duvel. I know that this weas originally conceived for a festival or similar, but I still don’t see the point. The flavor is far too sweet to retain any refreshing qualities, but those are trampled by more spritzy carbonation and soda-like syrupyness anyhow. The palte is too sticky, low-medium carbonation is too active and reckless. Cloying and annoying. what a pity. I am awfully glad that this isn’t the version of Duvel that’s available in the United States - this is a massive departure from the fantastic qualities the standard Duvel exhibits with great consistency.

This is almost like a pilsener. Muffy paper aroma. Bitter taste, dry malts.
2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 TBone (9414) - Pori, FINLAND - OCT 22, 2006
Bottled (BB 01/2007).
Pale yellow, decent white head. Aroma is mostly sweet maize. Fruity (apples, pears) bitter flavor, metallic notes, lemon, sweetish bitter aftertaste. Some pear and apple fruityness also in the aftertaste. Belgian ale-version of European strong lager, useless brew.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 DonMagi (5599) - bantervile, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - OCT 21, 2005
I have some questions over wither or not this beer had gone off, it didnt seem like it was ment to taste this way in my opinion, therfore it get a reasonably rubbish rating. Aroma is yeasty metalic ham. Taste is yeast goign to aluminim filings with alcohol, this isnt actually as bad as it may sound, however a 5 may be generous. I was really looking forward to this, because you cannot get it in britian even online, and i have to drink duvel to keep me off chimay blue and rochefort these days, because of the lack of good beers in this country, belgiun bottled-wise anyway, and i have a soft spot of duvel because of this. Browney points for cool bottle.

Drank a bottle of this in Amsterdam. Gold color with very small head. Bitter smell and a bitter taste with a lot of fizz thrown in. Not a fan of the hoppy.

1.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 ericnixon (734) - Northampton, Massachusetts, USA - MAY 10, 2005
Duvel special with white label and green lettering. Yellow color beer with no real head, just a few foamy bubbles. Strong hoppy aroma. Fizzy mouthfeel and a mildly unpleasant aftertaste. Eh, nothing special at all.
