2/16/2011: Duvel Tripel Hop... Aroma: Big nose of floral and slightly citrusy hops. Appearance: Pale golden color, slightly hazy; huge, fluffy, off-white head; scant lacing; large torrents of carbonation. Flavor: Fruity with a touch of residual sweetness; delicate bitterness with nice floral and citrusy (tangerine, grapefruit) hop; bright, maybe sharp, alcohol; Champagne-like yeast. Palate: Light and airy; good level of fizzy carbonation lending to an great effervescence. Overall: Wow, really tasty! Complexity develops as it decants; highly alcoholic, but addictive; Duvel is the embodiment of basic, yet complex!

750ml corked and caged bottle (9.5% ALC./VOL.; Best before: 18 Mei 2013) shared by Tmoney99. Thanks Tom! Hop Selection: Saaz-Sazz, Styrian Golding, and Amarillo; Dry Hopping: Styrian Golding. Rating #399 for this beer.

2010 bottle. This one was just odd to me. Sort of reminded me of dish soap in a way. Iím glad I was able to try it but the beer itself wasnít that great.

750ml bottle, bottled 18 Mei 2010. It says best by 18 Mei 2013. Split with b3shine to celebrate some milestone ticks. Mostly clear golden color. Lots of yeast particles suspended in the body. Thin, kind of bubbly white head. Couple bubbly bits of lace. Pretty sweet taste, lightly spicy. Odd, sweet belgian candy sugar, lightly soapy. Some complex things going on in this beer. Bigger body. Soft carbonation, more dry texture. Light bit of sweet alcohol warmth. Interesting, complex stuff, might be a bit past itís prime, though. For me, a little too sweet, texture is a little too soft. Has an odd belgiany older hop twang to it that Iím not crazy about. Been wanting to try this one for a while, though, glad I was able to share it........ Definitely getting better as it warms up, though. Sweet taste is not as bad. Nice yeasty belgian flavors.

750 ml bottle to snifter (2010 vintage; shared with DrSilverworm for my 2500th rating and his 3000th). Looks good for the style; a lightly hazy golden orange with fluffy white head that dissipates into lacing. Smells good too; hoppy and yeasty with a sweet malty backbone. Tastes like it smells with a nice, lively saison-esque mouthfeel. Good beer!

Shared 750ml bottle to ring in my birthday at the Abbots Ale House. Pours a lively golden with a pillowy white head. Beautiful aroma of green apple, butterscotch, flora, and sea air. Taste is medium sweetness, light hop bitterness, and a light sour tang. Smooth, dry, fruity hop finish. Delicious.
