Poured with tons of head, golden clear color.... Not much of a nose, pretty bland taste too... Slightly disappointed

UPDATED: AUG 18, 2016
May 2013 - Cold bottle as íDuvel Tripel Hop Citra 2012í. Pale yellow, high carbonation, big enduring white head, lots of lacing. Looks great. Citra hops smell. Taste is peachy, fruit soda, lager and sparkling wine qualities. Flavour isnít very intense. Easy drinking. (3.7)
July 2016 - Bottle share at Craft Beer Co Islington as íDuvel Tripel Hop #2: Citraí. Many thanks to Bryan. Clear yellow, big foamy white head, thick lacing. Aroma is floral, buttery malt, some lime and Toilet Duck. Body is smooth with soft carbonation. Taste is spicy, coconut, lemony, buttery vibe, soft alcohol by comparison to others. Probably my second favourite in the series. (3.5)

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at Delirium Hoppy Loft, pours a hazy gold-tinted yellow with a large white head. Aroma of Belgian yeast, bready malts, British hops and some spice. Flavour of fresh Belgian yeast, spicy hops, cereal malts, some dough. Intensely flavourful and quite spicy and yeasty on the palate. Finish spicy and cerealy.

3.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Nose is classic citra, tropical fruits, peach, papaya, mango, lemon, undercut with a gentle yeast; beautiful. Apperance is classic duval. The taste underwhelms compared to the nose. Floral notes, a little lemon balm, duvel yeast, grasses, fading to malt and a short lime and grapefruit finish. Palate is very carbonated. Wonderful nose, but the flavours donít carry the same weight, leaving a disjointed beer, which I think is inferior to standard duvel..

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
My Bottom Line:
There is plenty of hay to support the tropical fruit in this classy, dry and resinous interpretation of Duvel.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A tower of foam covers the misty pale straw yellow.
-Citra overpowers Saaz and Styrian Goldings in the flavor profile.
-Alcohol disappears from the flavor profile in the second half.
-The resinous hop bitterness is of the same medium intensity as the rest of the brew.
-Bubbles are big and vibrant. With the dryness, this makes for a festive mouthfeel, not too far from Champagne.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at The Anderson. It pours pale yellow with a thick white head. The nose is fresh floral, red grape, apple, passion fruit, straw and light spice. The taste is floral, white grape, zesty citrus, passion fruit, straw, light spice, touch of alcohol with a dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Pretty good stuff!

750ml bottle. Clear to filmy golden colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Aroma has lots of fresh hop, citrusy, minimally grassy. Taste is unspecific fruity, slightly grassy hoppy, subtle sweetness.

2.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled. Slight hazy pale yellow color, huge rocky white head. Aroma of typical duvel yeast esters together with some tropical fruit from the citra. Citric, grassy, a bit herbal. A complete mismatch. This combination makes it smell like garlic and union. Taste is very dry, like a regular duvel, but with increased bitterness, almost harsh. Sure, itís drinkable and I will finish the glass, but Iím sorry, itís a horrible creation.
